Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend was by far the craziest weekend packed full of parties and other family reunion type things. We had a great time with everyone! But, we were exhausted. Ha! We started off the Memorial Day weekend with a calm and boring Friday night where we caught up on cleaning and watching our TV shows. We tossed around the idea of heading up to Wisconsin for Saturday night and ended up booking our hotel Saturday morning.

(More after the collage. :P )

I love random quick trips to Wisconsin. Love them. Liam did pretty good for the 2 hour ride up to Wisconsin and even took a quick nap towards the end of the trip. It was our first time spending a night in a hotel with Liam by ourselves. I unplugged all the phones in our room and protected Liam from all the exposed outlets. It wasn't an easy job. Why do kids love outlets? It's so scary.

We had a free happy hour and free breakfast at our hotel. Such a bonus! We also swam in the pool a couple of times. Bill woke up early Sunday morning to his favorite flea market while Liam and I slept in and then went down to the pool for a bit. Liam doesn't know what to do in the water. He is so chill, and for a few minutes, he's calm. It's kind of amazing and adorable.

After our brief Wisconsin trip, we came home for two birthday parties and a graduation party! We also had breakfast with my dad on Memorial Day at our favorite breakfast place. We found out Bill's brother and our soon-to-be sister-in-law saved our chickens while we were gone. Our ten baby chickens were outside in the rain to escape the older chicken who was trying to peck them to death. They were completely soaked, and apparently, they looked dead. Fortunately, they were completely revived in the morning after a night under their heat lamp. Thank God!

I don't think we've had such a fun and busy weekend ever. How was your Memorial Day Weekend?

Taking Stock

Feeling: Happy. We are loving the summer weather we have been having. Liam loves being outside and playing in the water table in our backyard and picking up all the rocks he can find.

Planning: My to-do list for the week. I feel like I accomplish things a lot quicker with a complete list. I love crossing off items on the list.

Decorating: I've been doing yard work here and there. I have four new knockout rose bushes, a lavender plant, new ornamental grass and a few annuals that love the shade.

Drinking: Fruit infused water! Cantaloupe and watermelon infused water are my favorite.

Shopping: I went shopping yesterday with Liam at Meijer and Lowe's. Nothing too fun. I'm feeling super good about the baby proofing items I have installed in our house now. :)

Procrastinating: Nothing at the moment!

Brainstorming: I'm brainstorming ways to organize my room and the basement. I love Pinterest for all the organizing ideas.

Enjoying: I'm enjoying the warm weather, hanging out with Liam and Bill, planning fun things to do this summer, reading Game of Thrones and figuring out ways to redecorate around the house.

Wishing: Not really wishing for anything now. Although, I'm wanting to plan a fun Wisconsin trip this summer.

Lusting: Lusting over some essential oils. Bill would tell you there not essential though. Haha

Worrying: Not worrying at the moment.

Life Lately

Another week or two has gone by, and I'm dying to share my favorite pictures and memories. We've been having warm days and then cold days. I can't wait for summer to be here. We've been wanting to get outside more often, because we're all happier when we get outside time.

We've been playing outside with cousins, and I think it's pretty adorable when they are all playing together. Liam loves when Bill pushes him in the baby car. He smiles it the same way each time. haha

A few days ago we went to Dustin's birthday party, and Liam was up and down the slides. He was happy to explore the jungle gym set, and I he got a huge bruise on his forehead where he got one a week ago. I was feeling lucky there was no black eye. Thank God.

Cousins with the same shirt. :)

We have ten chickens in our basement. They are getting huge. Every few days, we notice how different they look.

Bill named this one Puffhead Fred. He loves sitting on the edge of his cage. We're trying to prevent him from escaping the warmth of his cage. Such a rebel.

My mom sent me this picture of Kittle and Tinker. They are best friends now. I love that Kitty has an animal friend at home now.

Bill will frequently ask me for pictures of Liam during the day. I snapped these two really quick.

This one is my favorite. I was just talking to him, and I got the biggest smile ever. :)

Love. Love.
We have a new rooster on the farm. He was a former house pet. I've never seen a blue/silver rooster.

We have regular skype sessions with Auntie Meg, and Liam loves talking to his Auntie. It's so fun to watch him recognize his Auntie.

Bill recorded the sweetest little video of him and Liam finding an arrowhead. I love Liam's baby talk and how they interact. Too cute for words!

Mother's Day 2016

It's hard to believe this was my second Mother's Day! We had the busiest week, and we all slept in later than usual. We went to church with my mom and shopped for a bunch of new plants after going through the Portillo's drive thru. I picked out knockout rose bushes (they bloom the entire season!), a few simple potted flowers and ornamental grass. My mom helped me plant everything. Thank goodness! I tend to procrastinate when it comes to planting.

After we planted and watered everything, we got ready to go to Taylor's graduation dinner! I had such a good time with everyone. A few days after Mother's Day, Bill brought home three yards of mulch! I've never been so excited for mulch. I'm determined this year to have my yard look nicer than it has in the past. I need to start with getting the rhubarb plant out of my front yard. Hahah Sorry, Bill. I couldn't help it.

Anyway, I thought I would start a new tradition of writing Liam a letter on Mother's Day. I think this will be fun to look back on when he's older.

Dear Liam,

This is our second Mother's Day together! It feels crazy to say that. I feel like you've always been a part of our lives even though you've only been with us for 16 (almost 17) months. I can't imagine life without you. I love waking up to you and playing with you throughout the day. Your smile and laughter are everything to me. You don't understand how happy you make me.

You definitely keep me on my toes. :) It's a good thing. Ha We both get outside more because you love it! You're at the stage where you are taking everything in and the backyard and everything in it is fascinating. You're teaching me to see everything with new eyes.

You are an explorer and an adventurer. The other day, we were at the park, and you climbed up the play set and went down the big slide backwards all by yourself. You're fearless! I love your free spirit and your curiosity.

I'm forever thankful we were blessed with you, sweetheart.

Love you more than you know,

Momma

Life Lately

Last weekend, Meg went back to Hawaii. :( I'm happy for her, but I'll miss her for sure! See you in August, Meg!

OK, this is a random pic from Instagram, but I put it on here because I love movies. I want to watch a few of them like First Wives Club, Parent Trap and Clueless. What movies are classic to you?

I need a selfie with Liam! Ha I can't wait till he starts looking up and posing for me again.

Liam loves this scooter. It's ones of the cutest things ever.

We went to Costco this week, and we definitely grabbed the quesadilla sample. Liam loved his sample.

We went out to eat that night, and Liam really enjoyed the noodles we had.

He found this toy downstairs. He looks so tired because he had just woken up.

I remember getting this little cow as a freebie at our favore fair. We even took some goofy pictures with it at the fair. Hahah

Liam loves tractors and was thrilled to get a ride from Papa!

Random selfie of us. :)

Today, the weather was AMAZING! It was in the 80's, and the warmth from the sun felt like summer. I stopped over at my mom's house and went for a walk with Liam and Kittle.

We made a stop at the park. He danced on the merry-go-round!
AND... He went down the big slide backwards all by himself! He's fearless!

Haha Poor Kittle. I had to take her leash off so Liam would stop walking her around the yard.

Liam - 16 Months

You love glasses and hats.

You got your second haircut. Mimi gave you your first haircut.
You also had your first sucker!

So grown up!

Highlights: You are talking more each week! We can't get enough of your fun personality.

Weight: I don't know... If I were to guess, I would say you are around 27 to 28 pounds. You're a big guy.

Height: Not sure. 32 or 33 inches??

Hair: Blonde in the front and darker in the back. It's still pretty light.

Teeth: You have 5 teeth. :) You definitely have the Juns teeth. Most 16 month babies have a lot more, but we've heard when they come in slower you'll have fewer problems.

Eyes: True BLUE.

Clothes: 2T shirts and 2T pants.

Eating: You love eggs, blueberries, noodles, fruit snacks on occasion, chicken, hot dogs, cheese, bread and green smoothies.

You love Annie's cheddar bunnies and the yogurt snacks in your snack trap.

I give you a 10 ounce bottle of whole milk after breakfast and another one an hour before bed.

Sleeping: I've been trying to keep you to a bedtime of 8 or 8:30 depending on the night. The night before your Auntie Meg left, we knew you were going to have a late night. You ended up staying up till 11 p.m. that night. You did great though! We could tell you were tired, but you weren't cranky.

You usually sleep 10 to 12 hours a night. Every once in a while you will wake up in the middle of the night, and I'll give you a bottle and rock you to sleep. You might wake up in the night once or twice in a month. You're still an awesome sleeper!

Milestones: You are saying: Mama, Dada, Hi, Buh Bye, All Done, Oh shoo (Oh shoot), cockka (chicken), NO, gentle and LOTS of baby talk.

I'm wanting to teach you to say... Love you and Oh geeze.

You give high fives now! I want to teach you to do thumbs up soon.

You wave hi and goodbye to everyone. It's adorable.

You give open mouth kisses, and we crack up laughing each time.

You have been walking since 11.5 months, and I feel like you are getting good at running. We have to watch you closely when we are outside.

Likes: You love toting around your snack trap and your bottle. You love your leaptop (baby laptop), your scooter (I like to call it your scooty), bouncy balls, and hats. You love your baby fedora hats.

I can't forget to mention, you LOVE to be outside and explore.

You also love the fun group we go to on Tuesday's. Last summer, you weren't walking so you seemed a lot younger than the other babies in the group, but now that you are doing more of the same things, I don't notice the age difference as much.

Dislikes: You are getting better about your car seat, but you're still not a huge fan.

We are working on sharing toys with others. :)

Outings: Let's see... We have been going to our play group, playing in our backyard, having dinner with Juns family on Monday nights, helping Mimi clean up things outside, playing at parks and hanging out in the jogging stroller while mom and dad run.

For the past week or so, we have had crummy weather so we haven't been outside lately. I cannot wait to spend more time outside. You love visiting the animals and running over to Auntie Tracie's house when you hear the kids playing.
