Looking Back at 2016...

I can't believe tomorrow we will no longer be able to say it's 2016! I think 2017 sounds pretty crazy... It's crazy close to 2020 which blows my mind. This year has been a year filled with goals and plans of what we want in the future.

We decided to add another baby to our family who we will meet next year! I can't wait to meet him and get to know our newest addition. I'm so happy Liam will have a brother, a best friend. He loves playing with other kids and being social in general. I'm thinking he might be a little jealous or just confused at first, but I think he'll love being the big brother after he adjusts to his new role. I'm eagerly awaiting the moment when he walks into my room at the hospital to meet his sweet little brother. I have no idea how a 2-year-old will react!

With the anticipation of a second baby, we thought about our house and what we would need to do to change it to accommodate another person. It's been fun envisioning what we want together and figuring out what exactly we wanted together. Bill was awesome at picturing what things would look like with a few different changes, and I was able to add my favorite ideas too. It was true collaboration. There was some stress involved, but mostly, we had fun planning things out.

The holiday season flew by this year for us. With everything we had going on, we didn't have much time to focus on decorating or planning anything extra for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Our Christmas tree still had a home this year in my mom's basement. It looked cute down there especially when we were opening gifts by it on Christmas Eve. It made me feel a little better it was still up and decorated this year even though it wasn't at our house. We had too many distractions this year to decorate and that's okay!

Now that we are about to embark on the new year, I've been rethinking different things and trying to figure out what I want to change. The one thing I keep thinking about is my blog and writing in general. I would love to write more posts per week on my blog. I love the memories I collect here throughout the year, and I also love the chance to write more. Also, I've never gone to a blogger conference or a writing conference, and I would love to find one this year. It would be awesome to attend one and meet other people with similar goals. As far as my job with the newspaper, I have been writing a lot more per month, and I want to continue that momentum into the next year. Writing is one of my biggest passions, and I want to invest more time to this blog and my job.

What goals are you thinking of for next year? What was 2016 like for you?

A bunch of Pictures from our Christmas weekend!

Last week was filled with planning and making decisions, and of course, we stopped for lunch first. I love this picture of Bill. He always serious when he's contemplating something! Haha We've been entertaining Liam with the videos I have saved on my phone. He watched Secret Life of Pets while we talked to Bill's parents and had lunch. I don't always let him watch TV, but when we are out and I want him to stay by me, it's an attractive option.

While we were having lunch, I noticed they were hauling away the Santa house across the street. I couldn't believe they were taking it down the Wednesday before Christmas! It seemed too soon. I found out that night there were no appointments left at the mall for Santa pictures either. I was entirely bummed we wouldn't have any Santa pictures this year. I need to plan it out better and go early next year! I think it would be adorable to have Liam and his brother sitting with Santa! I seriously can't wait for Liam to meet his brother. I feel like he'll be surprised.

After lunch, we stopped at Menards and Liam spotted these emoji dog toys. He really had fun stocking his cart! ;) He was so proud of himself. When we went to leave, he put all of them back on the shelf.

Friday was Christmas at the Juns Farm. Bill's mom went all out making a bunch of desserts including several different cookies, lemon pound cake and other appetizers. We had a hard time keeping Liam away from all the dessert or "CANDY!" Hahah

All ready for the party in his three piece suit. His three other boy cousins wore the same thing.

Enjoying his blueberry candy cane.

Present opening was crazy with 10 kids! My ears were really ringing after all the noise and excitement of Christmas. haha

Brice enjoying his felt sandwich toys!

Bill's parents with all the grandkids.

Katie and I are due a month apart. It's going to be an exciting winter!

On Christmas eve, we went over to my mom's. My mom watched Liam while we went to the new Star Wars movie in the afternoon. We came home and hung out together for a while and had dinner later on. We noticed Liam wasn't feeling good after his nap. It was so sad to see him a little sick on Christmas eve! He did pretty good and opened his presents, but when it came to bed time, he was completely tired and ready to sleep.

Opening presents with Auntie Meg!

I thought this was the sweetest video of Auntie Meg and Liam saying, "Merry Christmas!" I love having these short and sweet videos we get to have forever to remember them at a certain age.

We opened all the presents downstairs that night. We did the same thing last year. I had the best time opening presents with everyone and watching Liam play with his toys and read his new books.

Kittle cracks me up in this picture. She's just chilling with her people and enjoying Christmas. I'm so thankful we've had 10 years with her. She's been the best dog for our family, and I wish she could be with us forever!

See what I mean?! He's so cute reading his new Mickey books. What a sweetheart enjoying his new books. I had this chair when I was little, and it's adorable to see Liam sitting in the same one. This year, Liam was a pro at opening presents especially since his birthday was 10 days earlier. He got really excited whenever we would tell him he was getting more presents.

We opened our presents on Christmas morning with each other. Liam opened his own presents and a couple of his dad's.

He wasn't feeling very good on Christmas, but he was still up for opening his gifts!

Bill surprised me again this year and bought me something I wasn't expecting. I remember a couple of days earlier, he said he was going to pick me up a present I would really like. I had no idea what it was, and I was completely surprised on Christmas morning. I didn't try to pry or have him hint to what he bought me. I was dying to know, but I also wanted the surprise on Christmas morning. We both had been wanting a full length mirror, and this one is amazing for us! I love that it has storage inside the mirror since I struggle with this in our house. It's awesome having jewelry right behind the mirror along with perfume and make up. I think I'm going to love that when I'm getting ready in the morning.

We had Christmas at my dad's house at noon. I have three Christmases with family. One with Bill's family, one with my mom and the other with my dad. Holidays are extremely busy for me, but once everything is planned out, I can enjoy the holiday.

Poor Liam... He wasn't feeling good at all Christmas afternoon.

Uncle Phil on Christmas.

Hanging out before presents and lunch.

Liam still wanted to open his gifts even though he felt horrible. I was thankful he wanted to open and play with gifts even with feeling awful. We ended up leaving early from my dad's house and going straight home for Liam. He needed to be home and relax with us. It was kind of sad not doing anything Christmas evening, but all I wanted was for him to feel better.

The day after Christmas is my mom's birthday. I always make an effort to have her birthday be super special even if it's the day after Christmas. I don't think there are any excuses. We had a great time, and I can't wait to post about it!

29 Weeks - Baby #2

How far along are you? 29 Weeks and 2 days. This baby boy will be here before we know it. I'm so excited to meet our baby.

Cravings: Still peanut butter mostly. I'm craving protein in general. Italian sandwiches from Potbelly are my favorite thing this pregnancy. I also am craving fruit. Apples, clementines and bananas are a huge favorite.

Reactions: I think most people are thinking I am farther along than I am. I don't totally mind, because I know I get bigger quicker. I was surprised to hear the doctor say I'll be coming every 2 weeks now. I think things are moving along faster this time around.

Favorite Moment this Week: I love when the baby pushes up on one side of my stomach. I love seeing him move.

General Mood: Happy. I'm excited for him to be here and to finally meet him. I love the big surprise of not knowing when you'll give birth and finding out what the sweet baby looks like.

Things I was surprised by: I'm surprised I'm not so uncomfortable in my bed yet. I get slightly uncomfortable towards the morning, but I'm not dying to sleep in my chair right now. Last time, I got to 29 weeks, and I was sleeping in my new rocking chair that week. I know I will be sleeping in my chair within a couple of weeks for sure. I'm just glad I haven't had to stop sleeping in my bed for now.

I've been experiencing heart burn for a couple of weeks now. I'm trying to drink a lot of water and milk.

Things I'm most looking forward to: I most excited for meeting our baby and having Liam meet him too. I also can't wait to drop the baby weight.
Sleep: Sleeping okay for now! :)

Measuring: At 28 weeks, I was measuring 30 centimeters.

Good News: I passed my glucose test. I was so excited. I passed last time, but it is always a relief!
Food aversions: None. I don't think I have ever had one.

Maternity Clothes: Of course. I got a couple of items for Christmas that are super comfortable including two leggings, a shirt and an awesome sweater I refer to as a blardigan.

Exercises: I haven't been exercising. I want to try yoga soon and possibly join a swim class I've been wanting to try since I was pregnant with Liam.

Liam's Birthday Week

Liam is 2!! I kind of can't believe he's 2, and at the same time, it feels right. He's our cute, spunky 2-year-old. I didn't plan a specific theme for his party. He had another dinosaur cake like last year, because he is obsessed with dinosaurs now. I had a Finding Dory photo booth set up that I got at Target for $6, but we didn't end up using it.

I think the biggest difference this Birthday compared to last was how Liam could open his presents, and he knew they were his toys. it was pretty cute how he would let his cousins play with them for a bit and then take them back. He loves the excitement of being around his cousins and feeding off their energy. He loved his tool set, his stuffed animals and dinosaur he got for his birthday. Now, I need to write his thank you cards.

I really enjoyed watching him go crazy over his presents and tearing them open. He got really good at opening them, and he was all primed for Christmas. Last year, he needed help opening them which makes complete sense when you're only turning 1!

Liam is always up for cake. Ha He seems so grown up eating his own piece. If only I could get home to always eat his regular meals too.

I love the "tongue" on the dinosaur is actually a 2 for his birthday.

I remember Kittle laying her head on my stomach when I was pregnant with Liam. I always find it so cute when she does that. I wonder if she has any clue there is a baby in there.

Opening a present with his new tool set he got from Uncle Phil and Katie. He loved having a new tool belt with some cool tools.

Oh my gosh, I love how he is working on the Christmas tree with his new tool. He's so cute! Haha

Liam got a really short nap on his birthday so he wasn't feeling like himself for part of the day. He was starting to tired at dinner, and I brought out his cake to cheer him up. He was so thrilled to see his Thomas the Train cake. He lit up right away and acted incredibly sweet saying, "Cake, cake, cake!"

Blowing out his candles on his 2nd birthday!

I had a great time hanging out with everyone!

Fun day!

We drove back that night after it had been snowing for a while. It's crazy how winter has arrived!

Taking Stock

Brainstorming - New post ideas for next year! I've been writing down the posts I've been writing this year along with new ideas for next year. I'm excited to be more organized. I want to have certain posts I write on a regular basis. Fran from Freeborboleta wrote a blog planner. It's only $7 now. I'm excited to use it.

Decorating - I haven't decorated anything lately. I've been cleaning and packing things up lately. It's funny how you can accept not decorating for Christmas when you have something else going on.

Drinking - Lots of water, milk sometimes and hot chocolate sometimes.

Enjoying - Finishing up my Christmas shopping and wrapping Christmas presents. I love when I'm almost done with everything, and I can enjoy the anticipation of giving the presents I bought. I just wrapped a lot of presence in this afternoon, and I'm so excited to give them to my family this week!

Feeling - Pretty good! Carrying around the baby weight all day can get tiring. Despite the baby weight, I'm feeling really good, and I have plenty of energy except for around 8 p.m. ;)

Listening - I'm currently listening to "Anne of Green Gables" on Audible. Rachel McAdams narrates it, and I love her voice. I was surprised at how this book has really captured my attention.

Lusting - I came up with my Christmas list for my mom, and the stuff I listed, I really like. I love anything from Barefoot Dreams. It's so cozy this time of the year.

Planning - I have been planning out my Christmas gifts writing what I have for everyone on a sheet of paper. I only have a couple of things left including stocking stuffers to get.

Playing - We've been playing with horses, dinosaurs (darn darns), reading books and playing in the snow when it's not too cold. Today, it was in the single digits and the negative temperatures for most of the day so we didn't go outside.

Procrastinating - I've been really good when it comes to working ahead. I haven't been procrastinating, because I have a lot going on lately. I love how the more I have going on the more efficient I am.

Shopping - Last minute shopping for stocking stuffers and chocolate from our local confectionery. I think I finished shopping for Bill which is always hard. He loves saying he wants nothing because he hates consumerism, but the one Christmas when I didn't buy him much he was kind of upset. I learned my lesson. I don't ever listen to him if he says he wants nothing for Christmas or his birthday. It's a lie. Haha

Wishing - I'm not really wishing for anything at the moment. Feeling super content.

Waiting - Waiting for Christmas to get here! I can't wait for this weekend! I'm excited for Liam to wake up on Christmas Day. 🎅

Happy 2nd Birthday, Liam!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Liam! I can't believe you're 2!! I don't feel like you were born that long ago! These past two years have been the best two years of our lives. We've had the best time with you. Getting to know, playing with you, watching you grow and enjoying our everyday life with you has been the biggest gift.

This past year, you've grown fond over trucks, tractors, "pombines," "darn darns," animals of any kind, TV shows, playing outside and being with your people. Your curiosity and energy are so contagious. Little things like getting ready for a holiday or going somewhere you never been are exciting things for you and me.

I can't wait for this new year to see you in your new role as a big brother! I can't wait for you to meet your best friend and little brother!

We love you, buddy, and we can't imagine our lives without your sweet smile, cute laugh and fun personality!

Life Lately.

November flew by this year per usual, and now, we're almost in the middle of December. It's kind of hard to believe. After Thanksgiving, we took our Christmas pictures with all the cousins. Liam was so serious in almost all the pictures until I mentioned CANDY, and he couldn't help but smile. Halloween wasn't good for us in regards to candy. It became an obsession, and he always ask for a piece of candy. Haha

We went to McDonald's after the Christmas pictures, and they had this awesome table (I'm assuming for kids) that entertained all the kids. They look pretty cute in all their Christmas clothes.

I took Liam to this Winter Wonderland festival while Bill went to a hockey game with his brother and family. He was pretty scared of the reindeer, but he did run up and pet him a couple of times. I couldn't believe they actually had two there. This one was the older one who much calmer than the one-year-old who jumping up in the air. I didn't want Liam too close to him. After this, we went on carriage ride. Liam LOVED the horses. We we're walking past a a trailer and Liam yelled, "horseee!" They were supposed to be there earlier so I didn't think they were coming, but I'm so glad Liam spotted them for me.

I went to see the Nutcracker the other week. Since I couldn't pick up Kittle from the groomer, Bill went with Liam and his dad. This picture cracks me up. Bill and his dad have never taken a dog to the groomer or picked any dog up from one. Their dogs were never groomed since they live outdoors. I think they had fun picking her up.

We had our annual shopping trip to Chicago on Thursday. We went to breakfast, shopped at Macy's, ate at the Walnut room, stopped at the Build a Bear workshop ;), visited the German Christmas market and made one last stop at Garret's for popcorn.

I love when it's not crowded at the German Christmas market! Sometimes, you can barely walk around.

I've been taking a lot of pictures of Kittle lately. I've seen two people on FB lose their dog recently, and I've been feeling the need to capture her picture more often since you never know when you'll have to say goodbye to your pet. I would hate to lose her. She's been the sweetest and most playful dog even in her older age at 10. She still brings us so much joy. I literally can't imagine life without her. We can't take anything for granted. This is why I'll be focusing more on her whenever I'm at my mom's.
