Life Lately

The Life Lately has been filled with a lot of Christmas movies and music, Christmas planning, a fun day trip to Chicago, planning for Liam's first birthday party, and different projects.

Here's life lately friends!

We went right Grand Luxe Cafe where we ate lunch with my mom, Liam and Paula this summer!

Made a stop to search for the Eataly. :)

We made it to Eataly and had amazing desserts!

I loved looking at all the different kinds of dessert.

There were a lot of sections to Eataly.

We tried each of them, and I could barely finish one. It was incredibly rich!

I had the best time hanging out with everyone! :) We can all live close and still do a lot together.

We went to a fun drop-in play center with our friends and had a blast.

Liam loved the cars! He couldn't get enough driving time! Haha

The first snow of the season happened the other week, and I loved it!!

And.... I have a little clip of Liam sharing with his cousins! So cute. :)

{Favorites from December 2014}

Liam is turning ONE next month, and I thought this would be an awesome time to recap his first year. I keep hearing the quote, "The days are long, but the years are short." Everything about this quote rings true for me. Some of the days did feel long, but this year has flown by in the wink of an eye. It literally has gone by quicker than I ever thought it would.

On one hand, it makes me sad to think my baby is turning one, and on the other hand, I completely excited for all the new adventures we are going to have with him. We had a great first year filled with new learning experiences. Some experiences left us happy and excited while others left us surprised and baffled. It's fun and scary being new parents. That's for sure. I wouldn't change anything about our experience. I feel so lucky.

I remember feeling so nervous bringing Liam home for the first time. Everything was new. It's crazy looking back and remembering exactly how I felt. Now, a year later, I'm much more confident.

I love this outfit we had for him. Liam started wearing 3 month clothes right away, and I loved this blue and white striped body suit. The ears on the hood are my favorite.

I believe we were on our way to my dad's house for Christmas in this picture. Babies with nooks are the cutest thing ever...

Wrapped up in the blanket his Nana crocheted for him.

I love love love love this picture.

Meg on the day we dropped her off at the airport. Don't leave, Meg! Haha

I didn't want Meg to leave at all. I remember riding home with my mom and tearing up together. We had one of the most amazing times together during Thanksgiving and Christmas. We're lucky we get to experience the holidays together again this year. :)

Here are some of my favorite pictures from last year at Christmas.

Me with my sibs and baby.

Mom having fun being a Grandma.

My dad with Liam.

Sometimes, Bill makes odd faces when I ask him to take a picture with me. Ha

Ahhh I miss this.

We have the same chocolate on Christmas each year. It's a tradition we never want to give up.

5 Things I Love About My Sister

I'm loving having Meg back home. I literally can't get over how easy it is to spend time together. She was gone for 2 to 3 years living elsewhere, and I'm so thankful she's back home at least for a little while.

On Friday, we went out for lunch together at an Indian place. Meg got the lunch buffet, and I ordered lamb Biryani.

They give a HUGE serving of Biryani. I ordered it medium to hot. It's spicy but not too spicy. Meg and I both agree, we are going to split it next time instead of ordering two different things.

I could have Biryani every single day of the week. I love it that much. The other thing I adore about Indian food? The garlic naan. It's A-MAZING.

After lunch we browsed Christmas decorations at Home Good and had an awesome and wonderful time together. My sister is one of my favorite people and here's why:

{Taylor Swift's concert at Soldier Field. ;) }

1. She loves her family.

I always know Meg cares about us with the way she takes the time to catch up, hang out, and ask us about our lives. None of those things are something to take for granted.

2. I can tell her my honest opinions... I can be real with her.

Meg is one of my people. We can tell each other what we think without holding back.

3. She loves Liam.

When Liam was born, we started calling her Super Aunt, because she helped me with just about everything I needed while she was home. She ran errands for me, helped me go to Liam's first doctor appointment, helped clean, organized Liam's things, and hung out with me and my baby when I first had him. She is Super Aunt. Now that she's home, she is always thinking of Liam and wanting to take care of him. We're really lucky to have her.

4. We love to talk.

We talk about all sorts of things. It's comforting to have siblings who understand you.

We can talk about difficult topics.

There are times where I don't always realize how I feel about certain situations, or I need someone to help me sort out my thoughts. She has a way of helping me realize things and so does Bill.

5. We love the same stuff.

Bill has told me many times he thought Meg would like different movies and TV shows than I do. He realized, we definitely have similar tastes for the most part. We LOVE Christmas movies and Romantic Comedies. We also like some of the same TV shows such as The Office, Parks and Recreation, Community, Glee, Breaking Bad, etc.

And then there are shows we don't agree on like Nashville. Meg cannot stand Nashville.

Don't worry, I forgave her a while ago. ;)

Liam - 11 Months

Liam's first trip to the Field Museum.

Liam at 11 months.

Halloween 2015

Highlights from this month: Liam, you went on your first trip to the Field Museum. There was one area where you could crawl around and play. You really enjoyed that part. It was kind of big month. You went trick-or-treating for the first time. You were a lobster this year, and we were the cooks. Haha

Weight: 23 pounds 8 ounces

Height: 29.5 inches at your 9 month appointment

Hair: You have blonde hair for now, but it looks like it's becoming darker.

Eyes: You have true blue eyes.

Clothes: You are in 18 month pants and 18 month or 2T shirts. We can get you to wear a hat if you are distracted. My favorite T-shirt we have for you is your Minion shirt that reads, "I'm sorry for what I said when I was hungry."

Eating: You are eating 6 to 8 ounces of milk in a bottle or sippy cup during the day, and you take a bottle in the evening and morning. I think you're becoming pickier with your food. I'm not sure though. Sometimes, you're into different fruits and vegetables, and other days, you won't touch certain food. You really like chicken.

Sleeping: You are still sleeping through the night! Yay! Most days, you go to bed at 8:30 p.m. and wake up 7:30 a.m. The last few days you have been surprising us and waking up at 5:30 or 6. You are taking two naps a day. You have one around 11 a.m. and the other around 2:30 p.m.

Milestones: Liam, you are so close to walking on your own! You are standing by yourself more and more, and we get excited when you take a few steps on your own. It's only a matter of time.

You started copying us. We were in the car the other day, and when I coughed, you coughed right after me. You even tried copying the cough exactly. Adorable!

A couple of weeks ago, I waved goodbye to you when we dropped you off at your Aunt Katie's house for the evening, and you waved back at me! :)

You are a pro at opening kitchen cabinets. It looks like we need to baby proof them pronto!

You have TWO TEETH coming in on the bottom! This is huge news. Your dad was the first to discover the two teeth poking through. I can't wait to see when they actually cut through.

Likes: You love being outside and being around people. You love other kids. You will stare at other people and smile when they look at you. You're very social!

You like crawling around and exploring everything in site. You got your first cold this month. It was really sad for us to see you sick. You didn't have much energy. On Saturday, you perked up again after not feeling like yourself for a week and a half! Thank goodness.

Dislikes: You're pretty happy go lucky most of the time, but I will admit it, you loathe your car seat.

Outings: We went to Starved Rock with my family this month. You loved riding in the backpack for the first part of the day, and then you got uncomfortable. We had a great time hiking.

You went to the Field Museum for the first time. It was a lot of fun taking pictures of you exploring the different areas of the museum. I took some pictures of you and your dad in front of the T-Rex. Your dad gave you a kiss, and you gave him one right after he did it. It was adorable!

Feel Good Friday

I've been posting Inspirational quotes to Facebook on Fridays. I love thinking about different quotes and how I might apply it to my life. Here are a few of my favorites from today.

Now, isn't this the truth?! We all put limits on what we can do in the form of negative thoughts or a bad attitude.I just love this quote. It inspires me to do more.

#confidenceiseverything

How fearless would you be if you felt you had no limits? This one in particular inspires me to focus in on what I like and not care about what others think. This last year, I've never felt more confident in my own decisions. It's one of the best feelings.

Oh the decision to try... Some people never get there. I've had things I wanted to do but haven't started. I was nervous to post on my blog everyday. Nervous that people wouldn't like it. Nervous that I wouldn't like it. It turns out, I really liked writing everyday, but I haven't necessarily decided what type of posts I want to write each day.

I LOVE this one!! I completely agree once you believe you can do something, it can be a reality.

This quote gets to me. It makes me wonder how much I could be accomplishing. Things to ponder. ;)

Kitty's New Sibling

Kitty has an interesting relationship with my mom's new cat, Tinker. Kitty is the older sibling who is mad the new younger sibling has fun new toys and she doesn't. She'll repeatedly bark at Tinker when she's playing with a toy. My mom ends up giving her one of the cat's toys for a little bit. We've had problems with Kitty chewing and eating stuffed toys so we never let her go to far with one.

I'm so glad Kitty still acts young even though she's 9.

We were over at my mom's house tonight. I've only heard about Kitty and Tinker playing together, but I've never seen them in action until tonight.

It started with Tinker staring Kitty down. It's hilarious watching the way they interact. They're so playful.

They take turns batting at each other.

What cuties!!

We were watching Elf tonight.

Everyone was tired except the animals...

Wine Tour

Sarah surprised me with such a fun wine tour. There were 8 stops at different wineries and at each one we got a Christmas ornament. We didn't make it to all of them, but we did pretty good. Sarah knows I'm slightly obsessed with Christmas and celebrating early. It was the perfect fit!

We were in the Finger Lakes Wine Country of New York. The view from each winery was amazing and even the leaves on the grape vines were changing.

Many of the vineyards had similar signs.

The Christmas decorations are tempting me to start hanging up lights when I get home.

We had fun. :)

Sarah gets the credit for this picture!

So many options! We got food and a wine tasting at each winery.

Christmas lights and decorations were up.

Heron Hill Winery
Bachelorette parties are pretty common.

My oldest friend!

I couldn't get enough of the view.

Sarah made friends, and he took our picture. I really like this one.

What a fun group! The guy in front was signing while Sarah took their picture.

I got all of these ornaments from the different wineries. I'm most likely going to hang them this week. There's really no use in waiting. I'm in the mood for Christmas.
