Life Lately

Happy Monday, friends! This is my life lately...

I went to my first Taylor Swift concert two Sundays ago. I am SO glad I went. I have been wanting to see her for years, and I finally did. I loved that I went to her 1989 World Tour concert in Chicago. Her new songs are my favorite. My sister, Meg, moved home the weekend before so she went with me.

My absolute favorite song was Welcome to New York. I couldn't get enough. Taylor is an amazing performer. Amazing. Also, she had a band named Haim come on right before her, and I loved them too. They are a group of three sisters who play the drums, guitar and sing. There's something about seeing women perform together that makes me really happy. Megan and I agreed, Taylor is a feminist, and we love her for it.

I almost forgot to mention Vance Joy played before Haim, and Meg was so excited to see him. He was great.

Liam went on his first bike ride last week. He enjoyed it for the most part. He was happy as long as the bike was moving.

We had a snack at Auntie Katie's house after our bike ride. Liam can sit up now!

On Saturday, we had a birthday party for our twin nephews and for Bill. Liam fell asleep with a cucumber in his mouth.

It looks like he has freckles, but they are scratches from his long nails!

Bill had a wonderful birthday. He brought home great gifts.

So... My mom fell in love with one of the farm kittens. She took her home yesterday and named her Nutmeg. That's the surprise of the year.

Meg with Nutmeg! Isn't she cute?!

Nutmeg drinking out of the pond before going to her new home!

Mom and Nutmeg!

Here's to lazy summer days lounging on the hammock.

Liam - 7 Months

Highlights from this month:  You went on your first road trip! We went to Wisconsin and spent the night at hotel with your Nana and Papa. You tried on your Papa's glasses for the first time.

You went to a couple of concerts in the park with your Mimi, your dad, and me.

We have been having dinner in the town I grew up in at the newish diner.

Weight:  21.6

Height:  Not sure. You were 28 inches at 6 months.

Hair:  Your hair is starting to come in a lot more. It no longer looks like you have a mohawk, because you have a lot more hair now! I think it is going to be a light brown, but sometimes, it looks blonde.

Eyes:  Your eyes are a true blue and almond shaped.

Clothes: You are wearing 18 month clothing and some 24 month shirts and shorts!

Eating:I have been consistently feeding you solid food for lunch and dinner and then giving you your bottle, but recently, I've noticed I need to give you solid food in the morning too. For the longest time, it didn't matter, but I've been noticing you've been getting up more often at night so I am hoping this helps!

Sleeping:  I've heard time and time again that a baby's sleep patterns change, and it's completely accurate. Some days, you sleep through the night and wake up at 4 am for a bottle, but there are other nights you wake up at 1 am and 4 am! It's a little unpredictable. I'm hoping you go back to sleeping through the night soon! :)

Your bed time is usually at 11 pm. There have been a couple of nights this week where I've been able to get you to go to bed by 9pm.

Likes: I have been giving you your Sophie (Giraffe chew toy) since we think you are teething. You love it a lot, but not as much as you like cords. You go after cords, and I feel like I am always pulling you away from the ones  underneath the computer desk. Ha!

I bought a teething necklace for you since we pretty much stopped giving you a nook. You would put the whole nook in your mouth. Scary. You love the teething necklace. It's super handy. I got the one with the large teething beads on it so they are easy for you to chew on whenever you want.

You like making a helicopter noise, and you are "talking" more and more. You're pretty loud when you talk. Oh. I cannot forget your new obsession. You absolutely LOVE to growl all the time. Growling is your new favorite thing. You growl when we look at you and talk to you or when we put you in your car seat. You growl to communicate whatever you're feeling. I think it's hilarious.

You love when I pick you up and dance with you. That's one of my favorite things to do. You smile and laugh, and I cannot get enough of it. I love you so much.

Dislikes: Waiting for food. It's been a dislike of yours for a while now! Hahah I think it started the first week we brought you home.

You hate your car seat. I think it's partly because it is getting to be small for you. We need to fix that soon. When we go to take you out of it, and we try to get one arm out you get upset because you know you are getting out soon but it's not happening fast enough.

Milestones: You started army crawling at 6.5 months. You stopped rolling, and all the sudden, you were crawling. It's funny to watch. You use your feet to push off, and it looks like you are slithering on the ground like a snake. You are fast too! It almost looks like you are in a race when you see something you want.

You like your solid food a lot. Apple sauce and bananas are your favorite. You also like rice cereal too. There are times when I can't get the spoon to your mouth fast enough. Dad likes to feed you rice puffs. A lot of the puffs end up in your shirt or on your chair. When I was out the other night, your dad staged a picture with you in your high chair and a puff on your forehead. It was adorable!

You started army crawling before you could sit up without any support. You had no interest in sitting. I think it seemed boring to you, because you weren't on the go when you were sitting. Your dad started to practice with you and had you sit up a couple of times a day. You got a lot better, and you started doing it by yourself a couple of weeks ago.

Outings:  You went swimming at the farm 3 times so far, and every time, you have loved it! You smile a lot and splash the water. Your dad and I like to call you our little fish.

Your Auntie Meg came home this month, and you have been visiting with her a lot! She can't wait for you to recognize her. The second time we visited, you were waking up from a nap, and you got scared when you saw her because it was only the second time you saw her since she got home. It was kind of cute. I think you will start recognizing her soon!

There have been two Wednesday nights in a row where we have gone to the diner in the town I grew up in for dinner with your Grandpa. Bill, your Grandpa, Auntie Meg, and me take turns holding you and entertaining you. We've had a lot of fun going to dinner. All of the older couples want to say hi to you. You steal everyone's attention! :)

On Thursday nights, we've gone to the concert in the park with your Mimi. We grab dinner and head to the park to throw a blanket on the ground and listen to the concert. You always have fun being outside and watching everyone. Lately, you have been wanting to pick grass and put it in your mouth. You sure love your grass.

We love Sushi Station!

He loves pulling on my hair...

I should really wear it up more often. Ha
Much better...
That smile! Ahhh He cracks me up!

We've been to Sushi Station twice in the past month. They have the best sushi we've had recently, and they also have the best prices. I can't think of one of thing we don't like.

It's fun watching the sushi go by, and I also love watching Liam look at it. He's very entertained by it all. This last time, I only picked up the San Diego roll. It's my favorite.

What type of sushi do you like?
