The Best Birthday Present

My birthday came and went, and I never blogged. That's a first for me. I had an awesome day. My family made my birthday special again this year. I woke up really early like most days to start working before Liam wakes up. Later in the day, my mother-in-law offered to watch Liam while I went out to lunch at Noodles & Company and got my nails done with my brother-in-law's girlfriend, Taylor. It was an awesome day.

At night, I had dinner at my mom's house with Liam, Bill, Mom, and my brother Phil. It was my first birthday with Liam here! I love how everything feels more complete with him. Such a great feeling.

Phil asked me if I wanted my present. Of course, I said sure, but he told me I would have to wait a week. I was thrilled when he told me it was a beauty subscription to Birchbox! I've never had any kind of subscription before this one, and I personally thought this was the best birthday present! Phil told me he filled out this profile for me, and he selected the level of expertise I have with makeup. I asked him what he put... He said, "Just below pro." Ha! You gotta love him.

I waited a couple of weeks for this pretty little package to arrive in the mail. I loved the box!

Inside the package...

I got advanced anti-aging eye cream, Vasanti's face rejuvenator (exfoliating cleanser), hello body cream, Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, a Marcelle eyeliner in the color indigo, and a mint green headband! I was really pleased with the different products I received.

I think my favorite so far is the body cream. It says it has sicilian lemon, spanish mandarin botanicals, and shea butter. One thing is for sure... It smells amazing!

The eyeliner I got is water proof, and the funny this is, I actually love indigo colored eyeliner. I will use this on a regular basis.

I read that the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray can be used in place of a dry shampoo which I thought was interesting! I tried it on my bangs while they were pinned back, and it seemed to work pretty well! Since I'm growing out my bangs, I am all for using dry sprays and strong hold hair spray.

I have several different face washes, and I can't wait to use the exfoliating cleanser Birchbox sent me. I love when face wash or cleanser also exfoliates.

I'll be honest, I have never used an eye cream before, but I do plan on trying the one they sent me. I never tried one, because it's not a fun item to buy. Ha

I know I will have fun trying out the products I receive month to month. Thanks for the awesome gift, Phil!

Liam - 6 Months

Highlights from this month: We had your Grandma over for your 6 month birthday, and we carved a watermelon shark for you. We love watching you grow, little buddy!

Weight: 20 pounds 5 ounces

Height: 28 inches

Hair: You still have your mohawk, and yes, we still love it! You're also getting more hair in general! It's awesome to see it coming in now. Sometimes, it looks lighter, and other times, it still looks brown.

Eyes: Bright blue almond shaped eyes. We've been studying  your eyes lately. We think you have your dad's eye color and my eye shape.

Clothes: We are switching you over to 18 month clothing. It fits you really well.

Eating: There have been days where I don't feed you any real food, but I think that was a mistake. Last night, we put you in your chair, and I got the food ready. When you saw the spoon, you lunged for the food! You were so hungry. There's no question about it. You love your food, and you're ready for it.

You like applesauce and bananas the most. Sometimes, I mix it with rice cereal. You like that too.

My plan is to feed you at scheduled times. Maybe, at lunch and dinner time.
Sleeping: You had been staying up till 11p.m., but last night, I gave you your applesauce and rice cereal around 7. You had your bottle after that. You went to bed around 9p.m., and  you woke up around 10:30 for one more bottle before sleeping through the night!

You've been sleeping through the night consistently for a while now, but your bed time has varied. I think the real food helped you a lot last night! You seemed very content.
Likes: You like tummy time now. You are getting strong and enjoying being on the ground! It's great.

You went from hating tummy time and being on the ground to loving it.

You LOVE being outside all the time. You look around at everything, and you never seem to get bored.

Dislikes: Waiting for food is a big dislike for you. Nothing new there. Although, you are becoming more patient.

Milestones:  We've had to stop giving you your baby nook. You are stuffing your whole nook in your mouth. You really scared us when you had your nook completely in your mouth when we were eating lunch yesterday.

Outings: You love walks and runs outside. You even love sitting outside.
