Life Lately

Life has been really cold lately. The kind of cold where you really don't want to leave the house. Ha We've been dressing in our warmest clothes and color coordinating our outfits. Well, mostly Liam's outfits. :)

One of our favorite outfits for him is his dinosaur outfit! Bill loves dinosaurs so it's a perfect fit. I love color coordinating his outfits and blankets.

Liam LOVES falling asleep on my shoulder. It doesn't happen every night, but a couple of times a week, I calm him down by having him on my shoulder. I asked Bill to take this picture, and I ended up falling asleep afterwards!

Bill had to wake me up so I didn't sleep in the living room the whole night!

I cannot get over how cute this picture is of Bill and Liam. Liam is smiling so much more lately! I can pull out my phone and Liam starts smiling. He knows how to pose! His right arm is blurred because he was moving around per usual.

I like the mom's group I've been going to lately. Liam is always asleep when we arrive, but he will wake up to eat and promptly falls back asleep.

Bill and I went out for sushi this week. I didn't think I liked sushi that much, but it was amazing! I honestly want to go back soon because it was THAT good!

 The Costco Smile

I was at Costco on Thursday, and I randomly started taking pictures. He started smiling a lot! I couldn't believe it. I like to think he's giving me a thumbs up!

I adore my Vitamix! I can make smoothies, soup, and ice cream. There are many other things that you can make with it, but those are some of my favorites! The smoothies I make are so smooth that they almost have the texture of juice.

I've been wanting to do something out of the ordinary, and tomorrow, I'm going to the mall with my mom and Liam. We haven't been there together since Mother's Day weekend last year when I was shopping for maternity clothes. We both had such a good time. I can't wait to bring Liam this time. :)

Winter on the farm

The frost on the trees is my favorite.

Winter can be beautiful too.

That bike parked by the shed has been there since before we had Liam. Ha

The other morning Bill went to take care of the animals. I didn't think anything of it until he came back. He was so serious and upset. When he went out to feed them, he found a duck and two of our Bantam chickens had been killed.

I thought that Kevin was gone. We've had him around for years. He has the biggest personality. Bill let me know it wasn't Kevin who was gone but one of the babies. I'm always surprised when he tells me we lost another one of our pets.

I shouldn't be surprised. When you have pets that live outside, they are never completely safe. Even if you put up a nice fence and close their doors at night, different animals find ways to get in and take them.

I'm learning that I need to be thankful for these guys each day. I can't wait till winter is over. I love watching them play outside when it's warm.

How quickly time has flown.

Meg holding Liam at one week.

I've been thinking about our visit with Megan and Liam's birth lately! That was such a special time for my family. Meg came home for a home. I hadn't seen her for a year and a half. I really missed her. We spent so much time together during her visit. We shopped for Christmas, tried out makeup tutorials, and talked about Liam's impending arrival.

The night I went to the hospital, Meg was in Chicago with our brother Phil. I remember excitedly texting them on the way to the hospital and my other family and friends.  Bill and my mom were with me. I love this picture. I'm completely exhausted and beyond happy. Meg and my mom are showering Liam with love and me too. They brought me all my favorite snacks and flowers. They are wonderful like that.

Sunday night they came and visited, and I remember going to the lobby to hang out with them. The Grinch came on the TV, and I felt right then and there like this was my Christmas. We were watching my favorite Christmas movie, and I had just received the BEST Christmas gift ever. It couldn't have been better.

After we brought Liam home, Meg helped with just about everything. She took pictures of us for our Christmas card, helped dress and change Liam, and ran errands for me. She is super aunt. :)

Phil even held Liam too. He's told me before that he thinks babies our weird, but he loves Liam!

Meg snuggled with Liam the most the last two weeks of her visit.

Sweet little baby and his Santa hat. I can't get enough of his Christmas outfits. I still want to dress him in that hat.

Ahhh.... He's so precious.

Pictures of my mom holding Liam before Meg left are rare! Ha We wanted her to soak up every minute of her time with us so we let her hold him all the time.

Bill and Liam chilling. His elf outfit is from Meg. He's a styling little baby.

We played Quelf on mom's birthday.

It's such a silly game.

Meg decorated our tree, and I loved how it resembled a tree from The Grinch.

I took these pictures, the day me and my mom brought Meg to the airport. I was having a hard time with her leaving so naturally I took a couple pictures of her in the car. Ha

I don't think we've ever had a more special time! I loved having my family together. It was kind of perfect that Liam arrived during Christmas time when Meg would have been home anyway. I think I'll always remember this time as one of the best times of my life. Nothing can beat family time and the birth of our first baby. :)

Liam's Newborn Photos

Lil cutie.

We're in love with his eyes. So blue!

Lil Peety looking like he's swimming in the ocean.

My favorite picture from the bunch. I love how he's standing up (with my help of course!) and posing for the camera. Love my little baby.

Our first professional family photo. :)

I can't get over how Liam's eyes kind of look like Bill's in this picture. So sweet!

So peaceful.

Oh.my.gosh. I love how beautiful he looks while sleeping.

A couple of weeks ago, we got newborn photos of our Liam. I love how they turned out. Liam did really well. We used the blanket that Bill's mom made for him, and I love how the colors in it bring out the blue in Liam's eyes. The detail and color in the blanket are amazing. We love it.

I'm really glad we waited till he was two months to get these photos taken. Liam is much more alert, and I loved that we captured his fun expressions.

Life Lately

For Valentine's Day, Bill's mom gave us all a vase of flowers. I loved the tulips and the baby's breath. The florist suggested that we put a penny in the vase to feed the flowers, and the tulips wouldn't open as fast.

Liam went to Grandma's house while me and Bill went on a date to the winery. I love how he looks in his hat with his cute cheeks!

There is always a guy playing an accordion on special occasions at the winery. I sent this picture to my brother since Bill gave him a toy accordion for Christmas. I asked him if he had been practicing, and he said that he had been playing it for his girlfriend. Ha

We went to Liam's newborn photo session last week, and he did great! After his shoot, we went out to dinner at Luigi's House. I saw the pictures for the first time today, and I ordered a few of the pictures. Bill really liked them too.

On Tuesday, we celebrated Fat Tuesday at the farm. This morning, I was eating left over King's cake and noticed there was a little toy baby in my bread. LOL I didn't know that it was a tradition to hide baby Jesus in the bread and the person who receives it has to host the party next year. :)

I caught Liam smirking this morning. I really can't get enough of his expressions. So adorable.

It's super cold here lately. Tomorrow morning, the temperature will be around negative 4! Yikes. I'm looking forward to warmer days when I can take Liam and Kittle for a walk and enjoy the outdoors again. Spring will be here soon I hope!

Liam - 2 Months

Highlights from this month:

Weight: 14 pounds 5 ounces (We got your weight yesterday at your 2 month appointment.)

Height: 23.5 inches We can definitely tell you're getting longer!

Hair: Your hair is brown. You've lost a little bit since coming home from the hospital. You're balding on the back of your head, and you have one big tuft of hair on the top.

Eyes: Your eyes are dark blue.

Clothes: You're in 6 month shirts and pants. Some of your shirts are 6 to 9 months, and I have you in 9 month long sleeve footies.

Eating: You're eating 4 to 6 ounces every 2 to 3 hours. We feed you around 12 times a day. Your doctor said I could start feeding you rice cereal around 4 months or a little earlier. Since you're drinking over 40 ounces a day, you'll be eating solids earlier than 6 months.

Sleeping: You're sleeping mainly in 3 hour stretches, and on a very rare occasion, you sleep a 4 hour stretch. I think you have a four hour stretch once or twice a week. I'm getting used to waking up twice in the middle of the night so it's all good. You've have always gone right back to bed after you eat in the middle of the night. Even if you're awake, I can lay you down in your crib, and you'll wiggle around for a while and then suddenly fall asleep. You're such a good baby.

During the day, you take several naps. You'll be awake for an hour or so two times a day. You have a fussy hour always around 8p.m., and we know that most of the time, you want to be in your bouncy chair with the lights off. We also turn on your Twinkling Firefly frog that you stare at until you fall asleep. Your Grandma likes to say that you're camping when we put you in your chair at night by your frog.

Likes: We can't tell if you like the lady bug or snail that hang from your chair or not. Sometimes, you seem entertained by them and hit them, and sometimes, you seem completely frustrated by them. You love when we just lay you down to sleep. You stretch out and are content. When I try to rock you to sleep, you usually don't like that.

Dislikes: Waiting for your bottle. When you need food, you need it right away! You're so hungry all the time.

Milestones: We're always amazed at how strong you are! You have been standing up on my legs for weeks now. Of course, I'm holding you under your armpits, but your legs have become so strong. We have a really good picture of you doing this from your newborn photo shoot, and the photographer couldn't believe you could do that already. You're getting better at tummy time, but we definitely know when you're done playing on your stomach.

You're smiling when we talk to you. It's the most adorable thing! This morning, I noticed you had a new scratch on your cheek. I asked you why you scratched yourself, and you smiled so big! My heart melts when you smile at me. I just love you with all my heart!

Momma's Favorites: I love your bouncy chair. It's a life saver at night. I put you in your chair and have it bounce. All the sudden, you're content and ready to fall asleep. You love it. I also love your Twinkling Firefly frog. The calming cricket noises are awesome, and I love the way it lights up like there are actual fireflies in the frog's belly.

I love Advent nooks. You'll take your nook mostly at night or right before you take a nap. I like to think it comforts you.

Your Halo sleep sacks are probably one of my most favorite baby items for you. I don't have to worry about a swaddling blanket coming undone. Your dad likes to call you his little sack of potatoes when you're in your sleep sack.

Outings: You've been to church a couple of times already, and you've also been to a pancake breakfast at church as well. Your dad dressed you up in a shirt that has a tie on it. (You got that from your Auntie Meg!) I've been taking you to my mom's groups, and it's so much fun to have you sit on my lap while I'm there. Of course, you've been to my doctor's appointments and to yours. Most of the time, I can get you to sleep beforehand, but I was scared you were going to wake up during an appointment last week. :)

I really can't believe you're 2 MONTHS OLD! Time is flying! I feel like you were just born. Although, you look like you're two months or older.

This second month I've learned your likes and dislikes, and I also feel like I know more of your routine. I love knowing your routine. I feel like I know what to expect from you more and more, and that makes everything less stressful! You're still napping most of the day so I've been able to work during the day. I think when you stop sleeping during the day, I will do most of my work at night and the early morning. For right now, I have a similar work routine.

We love you our little big boy! You're the best thing that has ever happened to us.

My Valentine

The day before Liam was born, Bill and I were hanging out the whole day. It was an awesome lazy Saturday. I had made friends with the couch in the living room and had been sleeping out there for a week, because my body had memorized the pressure points my glider had been pressing on. (I slept in the glider for 3 months. It was wonderful!) Anyway, after we woke up, we went over to the farm for breakfast.

I was 3 days away from due date. I couldn't think about anything else. I was so excited! It wasn't that surprising that I couldn't really talk about anything else without mentioning something about our baby. I feel like life is surreal when you're a few days away from your due date.

I can remember everything I did that day. From the grapefruit I ate for breakfast to the conversation I had with the doctor on call later in the day. It's funny how you can look back on a situation and realize God was orchestrating it all.

That afternoon at 2 p.m., I noticed that my left leg and foot were swelling up significantly more than my right leg. It really freaked me out. I don't like having to call the doctor, because I'm always worried that I'm going to be wasting their time, but I pushed those thoughts away and called the on call line. They told me they would have the doctor call me soon. He called me back a few minutes later, and I explained what was happening. He told me that it was possible there could be a clot, and it could be a life threatening situation. I was a little nervous, but I was so glad I called.

I went to the radiation department an hour later where they gave me an ultrasound of my left leg. It turned out that I didn't have a clot. That left leg just decided to swell up like a balloon. The doctor came in and told me that everything looked okay, but it wasn't a 100 percent. I remember him telling me they would see me Monday for my induction or this weekend if the baby decided to come early. That's the first time I thought I really could be going to the hospital earlier than I thought.

Bill was understanding of me going to get my leg checked out. He picked me up afterwards and we went to a couple of places. He had picked up this area sized rug for Liam's room that had colors that matched the curtains in his room exactly. I loved that rug.

I went to church and then my mom dropped me off at home where I spent the next few hours cleaning and wrapping presents. I was sitting on the rug Bill had just bought in Liam's room wrapping my presents, and I remember getting up and walking to the living room where my water broke. I immediately knew and was so excited. I called to Bill and he got really excited too. He didn't freak out like I did though.

I was running around the house trying to figure out what to bring with and making sure I had everything. I called Labor and Delivery, and they told me to come in. The thing I remember most is that Bill was walking slowly picking up things and taking the time to shave his head before we left. He was doing all that before getting in the car to drive me to the hospital.

In retrospect, it was a great thing that he was THAT calm. At the time, it was really annoying. I was wanting to leave and drive fast to the hospital. It was my first time, and I was pumped. I can't imagine how on edge I would have acted if Bill had of been super anxious like me.

We got in the car to drive to the hospital, and he went the speed limit the whole time. I wasn't having contractions so I knew it would be fine, but I was surprised by his calm attitude.

I remember telling him, "Drive faster!"

And, "Why are you going the speed limit?" hahaa

Now that it's over, I'm glad he went the speed limit and was calm. He's always been my voice of reason.

I love that I can count on him to stay calm even when I'm not. We make a good team, and I'm forever grateful for him.

Love you Bill. :)
