The Many Faces of Liam

Liam at 6ish weeks.

Liam is full of different expressions! I literally can't get enough of his cute face. He's smiling more and more. I don't want to forget his the faces he made early on so I put together some of my favorite pictures so far.

Curious and happy!

My sweetie doing his whistle face!

I didn't know he was sticking his tongue out! Ha

Shocked?

Happy again!

Content little Pete.

Oh my gosh. He's SO sweet!

Wondering where his food is at?

Suspicious Liam.

Oh Pete.

This evening, I was sitting down with Liam watching TV, and I felt him looking at me. I looked down, and he was staring at me. He started smiling a lot when I talked to him so I pulled out my camera and took a picture of his sweet smile! I'm so in love with my little guy. I'm forever thankful for Liam. I love that God chose me to be his mom. :)

Our 3rd Anniversary!

The start of the year is flying by for us. It's just been weird. Christmas didn't really feel like Christmas this year. I had our Christmas the week and a half before when our baby was born. THAT was our Christmas, and it was the best ever!

I can't imagine a better celebration. It was awesome and surreal at the same time. So when January snuck up on us, we were and still are adjusting to taking care of our newborn. This goes without saying, but our anniversary came pretty quickly. We had our first date in 5 weeks! It felt like forever since we had a date.

We went to Bien Trucha. What a great Mexican place! We had a wonderful time. I ordered fish tacos, and Bill got a burrito. Their margaritas are probably the best I've ever had.

My mom watched our little one and took some of the cutest pictures I've ever seen of him. He's so precious, and I love his smile. Anyway, Bill and I went to a couple of stores and headed back to pick up Liam. It's ironic that the night we went out, he stayed up till 3a.m. Ha

I still have to schedule Liam's newborn photos. I need to do that by next week. Any tips on what blankets or outfits to bring with?

Liam - One Month

 Highlights from this month:

Weight: 12 pounds 0 ounces at your one month check.

Height: 21 inches

Hair: Your hair is brown. Your dad and I were both surprised that you had quite a bit of hair when you were born. You haven't lost it yet. I love that your hair is brown. I totally expected you to have peach fuzz when you were born, and I was so wrong. I love being surprised!

Eyes: Your eyes are a dark blue. When we first brought you home, they looked black to us. They were so dark, and they still are!

Clothes: You are in all of your 3 month clothes! I never bought any newborn clothing, because I figured you would be at least 8 pounds.

Eating: You are eating 3 to 4 ounces during the day, and at night, you are eating 2.5 to 3 ounces. For some reason, you can get by on a little less food at night.

Sleeping: You've consistently needed two feedings in the middle of the night. You sleep for 3 hour stretches, and when you wake up, you need your food right away!

You sleep so much during the day. When we first brought you home, we thought we would try to help you switch to sleeping mainly at night. That didn't work. You love your sleep, and it's hard keeping you awake for extended periods of time.

Likes: Your dad will put you in your chair in your room at night, and you seem to settle down when he does that. I think you like relaxing by yourself instead of us trying to rock you to sleep. I always thought I would be rocking you to sleep in our glider, but I think you prefer to stretch out in your crib or relax in your chair before going to bed. You're so independent. :)

Dislikes: You don't like being changed. When we first got home, you cried the most when we would change you. Also, you don't like waiting for food, but who wants to wait to eat their dinner anyway?

Milestones: You're lifting your head even more now, and when you do tummy time, you're trying to push up with your arms. It's adorable! We love watching you get stronger each day.

Momma's Favorites: I'm loving your cute outfits that we received at your baby shower. I think my favorite so far is your light blue striped footie outfit that has ears on it. In one of our favorite pictures of you, you're wearing that outfit.

Outings: Your very first outing was the Friday after you were born. You went to your very first doctor's appointments at 5 days old. Your Auntie Meg helped me take you to this appointment. You went to Christmas at the farm and Christmas at your other Grandpa's house and Grandma's house. We haven't been to church yet, but I think we will go soon.

Our little one turned one month this week! I've learned so much from our little guy already about being a mom and different things about myself. I'm finding that getting up in the middle of the night to feed him creates a special bond between me and him. Sometimes when Bill is feeding him his bottle, Liam will look around for me if he hears me talking. It's things like that that make me feel so special. Of course, he loves his daddy too. Bill loves to sing to him and can't get enough of how cute he is.

I just love this picture of Liam and Bill! Such sweeties. :)

I can't believe how much you've already grown little Liam. You gained half your body weight in 3 weeks time!! You're pretty amazing! You've been lifting your head since you were in the hospital, and you only continue to get stronger. You use your arms to lift up your head and chest when you're doing tummy time. I love all your expressions. I can tell when you're thinking about something. You have the same expression each time when your lips form this little pout. It's the cutest thing ever.

Love you little, buddy.

What I'm reading: Yes Please

I'm reading Amy Poehler's book Yes Please right now. So far I'm loving how honest she is about her life and career experiences. Also, I loved when she talked about her first pregnancy and first son Archie. It was awesome reading about her experience after I just had my first son a month ago.

Her book is split up into sections titled, Say whatever you want, Do whatever you want, and Be whoever you are. The simple titles of those parts of her book alone make me want to read her book more. This book is great for me to read right now when I'm figuring out more things than ever about myself.

Have you ever started reading a book and realized halfway through that it's the perfect book for you to read during that time of your life?

One Month mark!

Cravings: Oranges are a huge craving of mine. I think I'll eat 3 or 4 a day. Also, I'm wanting sugar, because I'm super tired. I'm learning I need to replace simple sugars with fruit or maybe a granola bar so I'm not eating foods that will spike my blood sugar. I made a green smoothie in my vitamix today that had kale, pineapple, and almond milk. It was delicious and super healthy.

Reactions: I had no idea how much motherhood would change me. For the better really. I love taking care of Liam, and I love watching him change every week. I feel like I've really noticed how I am able to say what I want and make decisions that are best for me. I'm less worried about people's opinions about me. It's kind of amazing. I think Liam is a huge motivator to do what I know is best for me and him. If you're a new mom, have you noticed that too?

General Mood: Happy and tired. I feel incredibly fortunate to have Liam. God blessed us with the perfect kid for us. He's such a character with his expressions and the fun way he acts. He's such a ham.

I'm tired too. Lets be honest, I'm still going through an adjustment period. I'm waking up every 2.5 to 3 hours, and it is hard. :)

Things I was surprised by: The first week he was home, I would wake up when he cried, and there would be mornings that Bill would have to remind me when I woke up. I literally wouldn't remember what happened the night before! I find it hilarious.

Things I'm most looking forward to: Uh... more sleep? Hahah

Sleep: Hahaha This post is riddle with talk about sleep. Honestly, I'm really good with falling asleep quickly. I'm thankful that after I'm done feeding him and changing his diaper, that I'm able to fall asleep pretty fast.

What I think is really cool and amazing: I love when Liam looks at me. I imagined what that would be like when he was in the womb, and it's just as amazing as I thought it would be!

Food aversions: I don't have heartburn anymore...thank goodness! I don't have any food aversions anymore!

Maternity Clothes: I've lost almost all of my baby weight, but I still have some to lose yet. I haven't gone shopping for non maternity clothes so I'm still wearing maternity jeans and yoga pants. Maybe, I will in a couple of months!

Exercise: I started back with exercising last week, and I feel really good about that.

Family Photos: Christmas 2014

This Christmas was more special than any Christmas we had in a while all because of Liam. We had such a great time just hanging out and taking it easy. We didn't have huge plans other than being together with immediate family.

Liam was pretty much the focus of every picture we took. :) We're having so much fun with him here.

Auntie Megan bought him his elf costume here. Love it!

Pics in front of the tree are much more fun with our new baby!

I seriously can't get enough of this picture. He's so cute.

Hanging out with dad!

We had Christmas over at my dad's house on Christmas day.

We got new nisse for Christmas from my dad's sister. I displayed the one I got last year in my living room all year long.
I love this picture of me and my baby. I can't get enough of him. :)

We celebrated Christmas at Bill's parent's house a little bit earlier in the week. This is the picture I got of all the grandkids. It's a little hectic with all them. Ha I can't believe there are 10!

The holidays went by way too fast for my liking. Although, I'm so grateful that I got the time I had with all of my family, and I'll always treasure the time we had with my sister here. Now that she's back in Hawai, I'm thinking about all the fun we had together. I can't wait for her to visit again...Hopefully, we'll see her this year!
