Happy Birthday, Dad!

Happy Birthday, Dad! I'm wishing that we could have dinner and cake with you tonight, but that will have to wait till you come in 2 weeks. :) I'm thankful for you, and I'm very happy that you have had all these new adventures lately. I hope your birthday was wonderful! Love you.

That time I chose to eat breakfast food.

On Saturday, my mom and I went out to a cute restaurant called Alexander's. We had just gone to a funeral, a rather depressing and uncomfortable funeral. I hadn't known my Grandpa's brother, but I was sad for everyone there.

We decided to go out to eat afterwards, just the two of us. I loved that I got that extra time with my mom. She had craving for an omlet. Normally I hate breakfast food, and I can't stand pancakes.

Pancakes make me feel to full. Way too full and not enough flavor.

Although, when my eyes were flying through the menu they stopped on this picture of these Red Velvet Pancakes.

I pushed my hatred of pancakes aside, because I loved Red Velvet! Red Velvet cupcakes or cake is the best.

It turns out that the Red Velvet pancakes are just as good. They actually had flavor to them, unlike the regular ones that I'm not a fan of usually.

The ice cream on the side was a great touch. So, if you get a chance to make or order them, you should try them!

When I told Bill that I actually ate a pancake he was excited, but he did tell me that they are fufu pancakes. That is OK with me though. :) I admit that I only like fufu pancakes!

My mom's spinach omelet was really good too.

After we finished breakfast, we went to Crate and Barrel where we browsed the new Spring items.

I didn't buy anything, but I had a good time just hanging out with my mom. She is the best.

Love you, mom.

P.S. I think that day should go down in history that I give my approval over fancy pancakes. Just saying.

The Red Velvet pancakes that blew my mind...

Our First Trip to IKEA

Sitting with Bill. We found a living room that had a really cool way to store books and that had a Nintendo below the TV!

On Saturday night, Bill and I went to IKEA for the first time together. I guess we could have gone together 3 years ago when we first met. Bill says he remembers asking me, but I have no recollection of it! I guess I was too busy that time to go there. Ha Anyways, I was on a mission to find a nightstand that was tall enough and had enough shelving. My first instinct was to buy what I saw first, but I ignored that.

I think we only spent an hour at the store... We debated on getting a cinnamon roll. Decided against that. Then, I found my nightstand at the very end in the bathroom decor section. Technically it isn't a nightstand but a shelf. I love it anyways.

Except for the whole assembly part. I complained about it on Facebook. Classy. Then, I really started to try and put the shelf together, and this weekend is the first time I can say that I assembled any piece of furniture!! Bill would come in the room and check if I was on the right path, but besides that, I did all of the work. I understand he was trying to help me figure it out by myself, but boy, I was annoyed at first! Haha I ended up feeling pretty good about building it by myself.

I told my brother, Phil, that I actually assembled it, and he asked, "How many times did you screw it up?"

Only about 3 times! I swear I read and analyzed each step for a few minutes before attempting anything! It worked. :)

Already found my nightstand and ready to stop shopping! ;)

After all that, I reaped the benefits of my work!

I've never had this much storage space right next to my bed, but I love it!! I'll finally stay organized. :)

Dear Bill

Holding the top of our wedding cake on our one year anniversary...

I am missing you like crazy! I can't wait for Friday night when I get to see you!

Did I mention how glad I am that you only work night shift one week out of the month? Well, I'm really glad I get to hang out with you almost all of the time.

I love that I got to have lunch with you when your working nights. I like letting you pick where to eat (most of the time!) so you get to do something fun. The Mediterranean place wasn't bad. The hummus and pita bread are my favorite.

Also, can I just say how glad that we finally bought are tickets for Europe! I'm so happy that you are excited and already planning what you want to do in Germany! I can't wait to think and plan more with you. :)

This weekend, I'm looking forward to hanging out at home with you. Can't wait to see you, best friend!

Things that are making me incredibly happy.

Oh, you want to take my picture? Okay, I'll smile for you then! ;) Love our little pup, Kittle!

This week I have stayed home a lot and organized and cleaned different parts of my home that needed some extra attention. That doesn't mean that I haven't relaxed and watched some of my favorite TV shows like New Girl and The Mindy Project. Here are just a few of the things that are currently making me very happy!!

~ Reading books and magazines like The Shack and Better Homes and Gardens.

~ Dreaming about summer and temperatures above freezing, particularly in the 90's. I want summer!

~ Having lunch with Bill this week.

~ Pioneer Woman's recipes. Seriously, I love her recipes the best. I'm currently loving her cinnamon bread recipe.

~ Planning our trip to Europe! We have our plane tickets! Yay. :)

~ Doing yoga each night in my living room. I love yoga. I feel so much lighter and stronger after it. I want to find a class to go to each week.

~ Animated movies. I'm looking for ones that I haven't seen yet. I'm obsessed.

~ Having a father-in-law that will check my oil for me. Very much appreciated!

~ A warm bed, warm house, and a humidifier. Just some of the essentials for these freezing days that don't get over 5 degrees Fahrenheit!

One Year Ago Today

Bill, there are no words for how happy I am that we found each other. I love how I can just be myself around you and how much fun we have together. A year ago today, we were married on a beautiful beach in Florida! I still can't believe it's been a year!! I love how both my mom and dad walked me down the "isle" to you and gave me away. I remember every part of that day so vividly.

It was the best day of my life.

This has easily been one of the most eventful years of my life... We have learned and growed together this year. I have learned that some things aren't worth disagreeing over and that I don't need to stress over the small stuff. :) I feel lucky that I get to come home each night to you.

You truly are my best friend, and I love you so much.

I'm excited for this new year and everything that we have planned, including our trip to Europe! I pray that God blesses this next year. Love, me.

Wanting to Hibernate

Could I just wake up and would it be warm and beautiful like it is in this picture??

What a week. I feel like it should still be Monday! It went by soo fast. You may be curious about my title? I have been feeling tired lately. I need to get to bed earlier or something. Also, I just plain want to hibernate until everyone around me is healthy again. Husband is feeling under the weather. People are sick around me, and I'm drinking copious amounts of EMERGEN-C to insure that I don't get sick.

I'm hoping he feels better soon. I want him to feel good when we go out to celebrate our one year! We are going out on Saturday. Our actual anniversary is on Sunday, but I thought it would be more fun to do something nice on Saturday when I'm not thinking about the weekend ending! Completely practical. :)

Plus, I'm thinking that we'll go to my mom's house on Sunday where our wedding cake is currently being stored in her freezer, since we have no room in our little freezer. I'm thinking it might actually still taste good, since this cake is actually from our wedding reception in June and not from last January. There was no way we could travel from Florida to Illinois with wedding cake... One of the only down points of having a destination wedding. It's probably the only bad thing. I highly recommend destination weddings.

It was completely fitting for us. I might have to write about that this weekend...

Anyways, I am actually planning on relaxing this weekend unlike last weekend when I started a million projects and folded five loads of laundry. Ha That doesn't mean that I haven't stopped planning and thinking about things that I want to do to better my house or my blog. Speaking of which, I want to write more posts that I can put under my navigation bar that people can read when they stumble upon my blog.

Things like....

My plans for the future.

Things I love and want to do.

Our destination wedding.

My thoughts about family and what kind of family I want.

Let me know if there's anything that you would want to read about! I'm curious what you would like to know.

Have a great weekend.

All Over the Place

This past Friday, I came home from work, and I don't think I ever felt so overwhelmed by my house and everything really. I felt like I had left everything go for a while, and all the sudden, I wanted to clean until everything was spotless.

Turns out, I didn't do that....

I cleaned the kitchen for an hour. Made dinner. Then proceeded to make cinnamon bread (recipe from the Pioneer Woman's site), and that was great. I was still overwhelmed, and I probably wasn't the most fun to be around at all.

When Saturday rolled around, all I could think about was the mound of dirty clothing behind our bedroom door that I hadn't touched in a week and the closets that I hadn't organized in a while. I didn't touch any of that until we came home from lunch at a local winery where I got a headache from drinking a glass of wine.

We stopped over at my mom's afterwards, and she was organizing a spare room in her house that she is planning on repainting. Granted, she was only tackling one project at a time. I should have followed her example. Ha!

When I went home, I immediately started taking every movie me and Bill own out of our closet in the living room and sorting them into groups. One basket designated for Bill and own for me. Then the top shelf in the closet went to TV series and movies that I am currently loving. I didn't stop there. I went to the hall closet and made everything look pristine there too...

I feel like such an A-type personality admitting this, but once I unleashed my need to clean everything, I felt like I couldn't stop.

Bill went to watch the football game with his brother-in-law, and I stayed home watching Nashville and folding an undisclosed number of clean loads of laundry.

I can't say I had a very relaxed weekend at all, but I learned something. I can't leave every cleaning project for the weekend. Those projects really destroy my time off.

Another thing?

I need to learn how to relax on the weekends. Any tips that you want to give me?

Why I Will Always Love Valentine's Day (The Movie)

I know Valentine's Day is actually a month away right now, but I have already re-watched Valentine's Day a couple of times this month. You know... I have to properly prepare for the upcoming holiday, and I couldn't think of a better way!

I could literally just watch the first few minutes of the movie and be in a better mood. The real reason? The movie kicks off with the song Say Hey (I love you.). I love that song for a couple of reasons. First of all, it reminds me of Florida (I don't know it sounds tropical! Plus, we were married in Florida.), and it reminds me of my mom and sister. They both love the song.

So right there I'm already in the best mood, I've been in all day. Ha!

I'm not going to attempt to summarize the whole movie... There are a lot of A-list actors and a lot of plots. However, I will tell you my favorite characters and their little predicaments.

Dr. Harrison & Julia
(Patrick Dempsey and Jennifer Garner)

Patrick Dempsey plays this hot middle aged doctor who is dating Jennifer Garner while he is secretly married. Jennifer Garner, who is Julia in the movie, plays a school teacher. Of course, I don't like that he's lying to her about being a single guy, but I love how cute they are together before she finds out he's having an affair. After she finds out, she finds a way to go to the restaurant that he is having a Valentine's day dinner with his wife and cleverly wrecks his dinner by pretending to be their waitress and while making up a horrible name for a special on the menu called, "The Lying Stinking Pig," and she describes how the chef violently makes the dish, but really it's a metaphor for what she wants to do him. A classic way to let him know.

Jason & Liz
(Topher Grace and Anne Hathaway)

Adorable, sweet, and fun couple. They seem to be totally right for each other. Jason quotes E.E. Cummings to Liz. Seems pretty perfect to me. Then Jason finds out that Liz is an adult phone entertainer, and that scares him off till he talks to Edgar (Hector Elizondo). Way to judge and bail!
Jason eventually runs off after Liz to talk to her and hopefully end up with her. I love when he apologizes, gives her a handmade card, and one rose.

Edgar & Estelle
(Hector Elizondo and Shirley MacLaine)

This is the couple in the movie that I admire and that I want to be like one day minus the affair that happened before they were married. They're sweet together, and they've been together for practically forever. That's what I want. When Estelle admits to having an affair, Edgar is taken aback and runs off. That night, Estelle goes looking for him in the cemetery where a movie is being played, and she screams his name till Edgar responds back. Of course, they make up and realize how good they really have it.

Now, that you know some of my favorite characters, I thought I would list some of the funniest quotes from the movie.

Here they are in no specific order:

Felicia (Taylor Swift) explains to the main anchor man how she met her boyfriend, Willy (Taylor Lautner):

"It's really funny actually. I was not into him at first. He used to shoot spit wads at me in Spanish class, which is like so junior high. But, then one night I was brushing out my hair when I got home and found this spit wad that was really a note, and said "what's up?" And I was like, That is so cute! And then, I liked him."

Male anchor after Felicia (Taylor Swift's) Interview:

There you have it, folks. Young love. Full of promise, full of hope, ignorant of reality.

Reed Bennett (Ashton Kutcher) to the main anchor man:

When I was a kid, most of the advice that my dad gave me was crap. But there's one thing that he said that was pure genius... he said, if you're ever with a girl that's too good for you, marry her.

 Julia to Harrison:

 "What's there to hate?"

"Nothing, if you're a handsome, divorced doctor, but for the rest of us single women, it's kind of a giant cosmic bitchslap. It's like the universe saying, look, remember when you were fourteen and you had cystic acne and braces and you played the saxophone in the marching band and no one would invite you to the winter formal? Well nothing's changed."

Mailroom Danny to Jason:

"Dude, he's from Indiana. They only celebrate Love Your Cousin Day."

There you have it. I'm completely obsessed with this movie! At least for now until Valentine's Day.

A Year in the Making

In 10 days, Bill and I will be married for a year!

That sentence feels wonderful to say, but at the same time, I can't believe I'm married! I feel so grown up saying that. Ha I can't wait to celebrate our one year with possibly a nice dinner, wine, flowers, and dessert with just the two of us. Sweet, simple, and romantic. That's all I want.

The more I think about celebrating our first year as a married couple, the more I want to reflect on how we have grown together and how we have fallen more in love this year. I know that nothing is perfect, but I can't think of anything I would want to change about this past year. I love being married, and I can't wait to reminisce and reflect more about it in another post for our anniversary.

It's you and me babe. Just us two.

Better Again

I am feeling so much better right now after being sick for a week, and I couldn't be happier about it!! This weekend, I got my energy back, and I was so excited to actually do something. While Bill was at work, my mom and I ran some errands and went to Hobby Lobby where I bought a few things to make a sea shell wreath. I had a great time with my mom. I love just hanging out with her and talking endlessly. That night I spent with Bill watching a movie and making my wreath. I spent four hours on the wreath! It looks great now, and I just need to add a few final touches. I want to add a starfish to the wreath and a yellow ribbon to hang it up.

It's going to be BE-A-UTIFUL! What did you do this weekend?

My Blogged Turned 2

A favorite picture from our wedding reception.

Yesterday, I noticed that my first post on the blog is from January 2nd, 2011 where I recaped some of my favorite moments from 2010. Although, I had written some posts before that, I decided to delete them for whatever reason. I wasn't impressed with what I wrote so I decided to start over, and along the way, I changed my blog name to Little Pink Book. I like feeling that every time I post on my blog, I'm adding to my own book, my online book which is my blog. I've gained more confidence in my writing and voice with each post. The friendships that happened from this blog were an added bonus.

I appreciate you reading my posts and your comments so much! I'm hoping to document more of my favorite moments this year with more of my pictures. It's going to be a great year!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope you all were able to welcome in the new year exactly the way you wanted to this year! Bill and I managed to have a relaxing new years eve even though I was really sick, and I still am suffering from a bad cold. Yesterday and today, I have had the chills, aches, and a horrible cough, but my Bill has been so sweet to me. He heated up my chicken noodle soup, and brought me numerous other things like my water bottle when I was too tired to get up. I feel very lucky to have him.

Since I've been resting all of yesterday and today, I've had plenty of time to think about anything and everything. I'll be the first one to tell you that I don't like making resolutions, but I did come up with two general resolutions that are extremely particular to my interests and hobbies. Simply put, I am hoping to read more books and blog more often in 2013. I started blogging so I could continue writing after college and have it be a big part of my life outside of school. I also want to continue to read more often. I'm happier when I read more. I want to know that I am always learning something, and I love getting into a good book that makes me think about things differently. With that said, I can't wait to share my adventures with you in 2013!
