The best is yet to come...

On our second date, Bill and I went out for ice cream and went bowling with his best friend and his best friend's wife. I remember feeling self conscious wearing my ugly bowling shoes in front of Billy. Heck, everyone was wearing those shoes, and I still felt that way! Now, I wouldn't even think about that, but I wanted to impress him.  I also remember that I almost said "No" to going bowling. I wanted to suggest a different less embarrassing option. My sister had told me that I needed to get out of my comfort zone... I owe her a big thank you.

I ended up bowling OK, and that night, I realized how comfortable I really was with Billy. It was only the second time we had met. I found myself smiling at him every time I took my turn. I couldn't help but smile. I had a gut feeling that he was going to be in my life for a long time. It might sound premature, but I couldn't ignore those thoughts that he was right for me.

I've been thinking about that date a lot. I'm so glad that my gut feeling was right. We are getting married really soon. I can't wait for our special day. A lot of people have been saying that, "The best is yet to come." My thoughts always go back to that after we finish something for the house.

Like painting our bedroom together. Moving the bed into what's going to be our new room.  Organizing the pans, cups, and cutting boards we got at our shower. All of those things make me realize how close we are to the best part of our lives. I can't wait!

I ran out of steam.

I feel like I have hit a wall. Kind of like the wall you hit after you run 9 to 10 miles. The wall that makes you sit back on your butt and tells you were way too ambitious. This may be laughable after my last post about all the things I wanted to accomplish for today, but I have since adjust my plans. I'm going to take things a little slower and enjoy everything a little bit more.

The possibilities are endless. Maybe not endless, but they are wide open with there being no work. Maybe, I'll finish the book I've been reading or workout for a few hours at the gym. Or maybe I will hang out with my family? All I know is I'm going to enjoy a relaxing day.

I'm going to revel in the fact that I painted a bedroom for the first time. An accomplishment IS an accomplishment no matter how small. I'm going to be thankful that I have pretty things to decorate my room with a nice new framed wooden mirror, warm blankets, decorative candle holder, and pretty ornate switch plates. Life is good... And I love finding things to be thankful for in my life.

What are you thankful for today?

Thankful

I've been having the most relaxing and fun Thanksgiving weekend so far. Yesterday, I spent the day with Bill's family. We had ham for breakfast and turkey for dinner. I painted in between meals with Bill's mom. It was great having her help. Bill was able to paint perfectly around the bird nest that we saved from the farm mural. I'm happy to say that we our finished painting our new bedroom.

We didn't do hardly any black Friday shopping this year. Long lines have no appeal to me. Although, I did go with Bill, his brother and his brother's girlfriend to Walmart. We walked in and did a lot of people watching. There was nothing really worth standing in line for an hour or two so we decided to go back home.

I spent most of the day organizing things in Bill's house and cleaning. All the laundry is finished and the cabinets are all organized. I'm having so much fun getting our house ready for after the wedding when I move in. I love taking pride in where I live and making it as nice as it can possibly be. I think I take after my mom in that aspect. She loves decorating, and I am no exception. *Tomorrow, I am going to move all of the clothes and other things to the closet in our new room, paint the hallway, hopefully paint the bathroom, hang up a framed wood mirror that I got for $15 at Menards, and relax a little during the day. I'm hoping I don't feel too tired after tomorrow, but I feel like I can't stop organizing till I'm done. I'm going to make sure I have a few hours that I'm doing something relaxing. haha Other than that not much else is going on over here. It's been pretty mellow. I'm thankful for that and peppermint chocolate, good friends, and wonderful family to enjoy their company. This weekend is going to be great!

*I will do all of that stuff if I decide I have the ambition for it, which I probably don't. :)

Our New Room (Half Finished)

On Monday, Bill and I started painting our new room. We only thought we would be able to get the ceiling painted, but we stayed up late enough to paint two walls with two coats of our wild berry color.

I helped with a lot of the painting starting with the ceiling. (The farm mural was for Bill's niece's room) They lived in the house before we did.

Here is one side of the room. We still have some touching up to do in our room, but I'm planning on finishing it tonight... :) Oh and in case you're wondering, we decided to keep the nest from the mural. It's super cute, and it might give the room a country feeling. Right now, I'm thinking of different ways to decorate the room. I'll post pictures when everything is finished!

Have a great Thanksgiving weekend, friends!

We found our color!

Last night, Bill and I met up for dinner after I finished working out at the gym. We went to Panera-where I worked for nine months after I graduated from college. He always thinks I know all of their secrets since I worked there, which I will say I know some of them... haha It was fun explaining to him how they prepare their food and where things come from. Anyways, after we ate, we went to Menards to pick out paint color for our room!

Painting our room has been on my mind since we first talked about it. Well.... I know I posted we were going to paint the room purple, but we decided against it. So many of the purple shades would end up looking grey. I never thought that until I held it away from myself or put the paint chip in the dark. That is basically how we tested what colors would be good. We held several different paint chips underneath a shelve so it was in the dark to find out what the color was going to look like in dark light. It worked out pretty well for testing colors.

Honestly, I didn't know if we were going to find the right color last night. We searched through all the pinks, purples, and in between colors they had. That's until I picked up this brochure that I hadn't seen. I immediately fell in love with this berry/wine color. The pamphlet had this beautiful color of paint called chilled wine. Bill thought it would be too dark on the walls, and we ended up opting for the shade lighter, called wild berry. It's funny because the wild berry looked more like the paint in the photo. Ahhh.... It's gorgeous!! I have a feeling it's going to make our room look really rich and vibrant. I can't wait to start painting and see the finished product.

A purple room.

This week has been kind of long. I feel like I have been really busy with everything, and I'm thrilled that it's finally Friday. Bill and I are painting one of the rooms in house that is going to be our room. We decided to paint it purple. I'm honestly very happy that Bill doesn't mind that it's going to be purple. I don't know how I got so lucky... I've always wanted to paint a room purple and never actually got around to the painting part. This will be a very exciting first time for me!!

Hey, your closet is overflowing!

Bill and I rarely spend time in my room. It could be because it's packed with a bunch of stuff that has no place to be stored.... Or it could be because of the lack of places to sit. We mainly hang out at his house. Anyways, yesterday, we were hanging out in my room of all places. It was hilarious when he walked past my closet and just stared at it and said, "Your closet is overflowing!" I knew it was full, but I wouldn't have described it as "overflowing." ha That one word made me a little nervous to think about packing up all my clothes, shoes, books, and other random stuff strewn around my room. I have accumulated a lot of junk over the years.

Although, it probably won't look like a lot when I have more space to store it. At least, that is what I'm hoping. :) I'm thinking I'm going to come up with a game plan this weekend to pack up everything. I am going to need a hundred boxes. Although, that might be a tad dramatic!

Another Twilight Fan...

This past week, I decided I was going to read Breaking Dawn, the last book in the Twilight series, before the movie comes out on November 18th. It was one of the best decisions I've made that week. ha Anyways, I'm more than halfway done with book. Did I mention I love it? I'll admit it goes from happy to scary/sad in no time, because of Bella being pregnant and all with a human baby that is part vampire. OK, I think I might be saying too much for those who are waiting to see the movie.

Anyhow, I just thought I would share how good I think the movie is going to be before it comes out. :) So tell me... Are you into the Twilight series? Or do you not care?

I'm planning on going with Bill's sisters and my own sister to see it on Saturday! I can't wait!

Pretty in Pink.

Last night, I spent a lot of time pinning different photos on pinterest. PINK pictures. Afterwards, I realized I want a few different things pink for my wedding. Here's a few of the things I found intriguing!

I have to admit, it would be pretty fun to wear a pink dress the day before the wedding!

These would be fun to make for sure...

I think I'll have a pink bouquet.

These nails are close to perfection. The darker pink is beautiful. It makes it look like you have ribbon on your nails-if that makes sense.

I'm still looking for a good flower for my hair. This one is beautiful.

An eventful day.

Today was a great day.  I was so excited to see my brother in the evening. I thought about it all day! He has been studying abroad in London the past two and half months-while I'm here working. No, I'm not jealous at all. haha. I'm really glad that he got the opportunity to go there. He stayed in Chelsea and came back with a lot of cool pictures and stories. I was thrilled to get a big hug from him when I came from work. He brought back a bracelet for me from one of the markets. It's beautiful, and I love it!

Other than that, Bill and I had a "successful" shopping trip. I don't know why I put it in quotes, but I usually get frustrated when we shop. Most of the time, I don't think anything looks good on me. ha Then I try on a bunch of things and ask Bill's opinion, and I usually don't end up buying anything. It probably isn't much fun for my sweety. Tonight was different though. I picked out two shirts that I really liked. They were also hugely on sale. I contribute my success partly to my shopping experience with Bill's sister Katie. I could learn a thing or two from her. ;) Also, Bill got a few things that he needed that were also on sale. We both kept on mentioning how we did so good this time at actually finding what we needed. It may not seem like a big thing, but we definitely had fun.

Oh, I'm almost forgot to mention... I saw some of the first snow flakes this year!

Is it really that time again?

How do you reward yourself?

Yesterday, I ran 4 miles and lifted weights after work. It felt great running, and I got a good workout. I came home, and I ate spaghetti that my sister made.

Perfection. :)

How do you reward yourself after working out?

Bridal Headbands & Crowns

I've been thinking about what I want to wear in my hair for the wedding. I thought about making it myself as well. I'm looking forward to finding the perfect flower for my headband! I've decided that I really want to wear a floral headband. Some of these are so pretty!!
These bridal crowns are gorgeous! I love how they tie everything together.

This one is artistic and has a natural look to it. I love how her hair is loose with a slight wave to it. Beautiful!

I also did some searching through Etsy and found several headbands that I loved. This one looks incredibly pretty and sparkly. I really like the flower on this one. This one does remind me of a Garden Princess. Simple and beautiful.

If I go the route of making my own, I have a few ideas of flowers I might want to put on my headband.

I love the idea of a flower with a pearl and rhinestones in my hair. I also would adore having rhinestones on the headband. I think that last one is the closest to what I want. It's so gorgeous! I haven't decided whether or not I would want a white or pink flower, but I'm leaning towards a white flower. :)

I had an idea of how I wanted to wear my hair, and this picture describes it perfectly! I want to wear it half up and half down. Only, I'm going to have the floral headband accenting everything.

If you're married, how did you wear your hair on your wedding day? To those of you who aren't married, have you ever thought about what you want do with your hair for your wedding?

....The planning continues....

Have a great weekend.

What are you up to this weekend? I'm going to a going away party for one of Bill's coworkers tonight. I'm excited to see Billy. He's been on night shift this week, and I miss him like crazy. I have around twelve hours till we see each other! Other than that, we are thinking of ways to organize our things this weekend for when I move in January. We're going to Target for different shelves/containers to organize everything. I'm looking forward to coming up with a plan of where to put the books, clothes, and more stuff that I have... I'm going to have more space to put all of it in two months.

Have a great weekend!

A thankful heart.

I love realizing how many things I have to be grateful for in my life. It helps me put things into perspective when I realize how much I actually have. God has blessed me with so much!
Here is a list of things I'm currently thankful for:

*Going to the gym and getting a good workout. I'm really thankful I enjoy running as much as I do.

*Lunch with Billy who I love so much!

*Finding ways to cut back on expenses and living a more frugal life.

*Completely excited for the holidays. I think they are going to be amazing this year!

*Of course, our wedding in January! I can't believe it is only 71 days away!!

*Good books to read and cuddle up with when it gets colder.

*Oh, the weekend! It's only one day from now. Thank goodness. :)

*For being finished with our invites! We spent all day working on them last Saturday, and they are finally mailed! Yay!!

*A warm and cozy bed. Yes, it's a very simple thing, but I'm grateful for it even if it sounds silly. It's a comfort after a long day.

*The chance to read up on health facts in Women's Health.

*New vitamins that I'm taking every day.

*Finally, I'm thankful that my brother, Phil, is coming home in less than 9 days! I've missed him since he's been in London! Can't wait to see you, Phip! xoxo

What are you thankful for today?

Living with less.

It all started this past Friday. I decided I wanted to hold myself accountable for everything that I spend. I wanted to figure out if my purchases were mostly needs or wants...

I literally figured out what the majority of my paycheck would go to on a note card. In some way, I felt better about spending the money I did if I knew what I was spending it on. I felt responsible about putting money towards my student loan payment, gas for the week, my phone bill, and other adult things. I'm fortunate to have a small loan to pay off from my years at college. It also helps that I don't pay rent. My small amount of expenses could also be the reason why I feel like I waste some of the money I make. Anyways, I realized that I spend money on frivolous things that I could do without.

I have a habit of buying lip gloss. I have too many already. Occasionally, I like buying movies, magazines, or other media related things. All of those things start to add up, and I want to make a conscious effort to reduce that spending each month.

My random purchases are more centered around the previously mentioned items than anything else. I hardly spend any money on clothes anymore. I used to like picking out clothes to wear a few years ago, but now, I dread clothes shopping. I can't remember the last time I picked out a shirts or jeans from the store. Pretty clothes have definitely lost their appeal to me. This doesn't mean that I don't occasionally buy a shirt oh every three to six months. That's all the patience I can afford with buying clothes. I guess I should probably count that as a blessing. :)

To be continued...

Do ever struggle with cutting back on spending?

Never to early.

Now that Halloween has come and gone, I have skipped Thanksgiving and am already in the mood for Christmas. I woke up this morning thinking about how I want to decorate Bill's house for Christmas. I love little white lights. You can put them basically anywhere. My family and I have friends that would put those white lights in their kitchen and leave them up all year long. Their house looked that much fancier because of the beautiful lights adorning the top shelves in their kitchen. Surprisingly, it didn't matter if it was Spring or Summer the lights didn't clash with the changing of the seasons. That's how I would like to decorate Bill's kitchen.

The awesome news is I could start my festive decorating this weekend. The lights are already at Target! Too soon for Christmas? Perhaps. Although, I have no shame over my love of decorating for Christmas. We're going to have a beautiful kitchen!
