Halloweening

Heyyy Punkins!

I'm not as festive as I could be today at work. People are in their favorite costumes, while I am dressed up in my normal work clothes.  I might add a couple pink bows to my hair. You know the ones that are left over from our wedding invitations.

Those count right? Right.

This evening, I'm going Trick Or Treating with my to-be nieces. I only know of one of their costumes-a beautiful purple mermaid! Too cute for her words. I'm thrilled to see all the girls dolled up.

I love taking pictures of them having fun. They're adorable, and I love watching how much fun they have over collecting candy!

I'm only a little sad I won't be dressing up my dog, Kitty. Till later tonight that is... A couple of years ago, my mom bought her a little green dinosaur costume that we force her to wear each year. Poor pup. She looks so cute though.

What are you up to this Halloween, Punkins? Do you still go Trick Or Treating or do you take your own kids or nieces or nephews??

The little things.

It felt more like Fall today than it has recently. The air was colder, and I got to wear my new coat to work this morning.  The cold air felt great, even though I'm going to miss summer like crazy. I'm also happy for winter for another reason beside wearing my favorite winter clothes. I'm ecstatic for my allergies to go away with the coming of the coldest season.

Other than that, I recently have tried thinking about the little things that make me happy on a daily basis. I don't need big extravagant things to make me content. A good book to read during my lunch hour or having dinner with my fiance. Both of those things make me feel great.

This weekend, I'm planning on printing the invitations and addressing them. Once, I have that done I know I'm going to feel better. What a relief that will be to have that done! I plan on rewarding myself with a nap or watching one of my favorite chick flicks during the day. Sometimes, I dream about doing that during the day. It's a little sad.

For now, there is only one more work day between me and the weekend-I can't wait! Work and one final fitting for my wedding dress. All the alterations are complete, and I'm so ready to try it on tomorrow. Here's to a wonderful weekend with no stress!

This wedding board gives me so much inspiration for my wedding! I NEED to be on the beach now!

A really busy week.

Usually, I'm not able to say I have something going on everyday of the week, but this week is an exception. There is literally somewhere I have to be each day. I'm kind of enjoying, probably because I know the craziness won't last forever.

Last night, Bill and I went to my class that I'm taking through his church. (Bill went with me this week, but usually I've been going with his sister, Katie.) He's Catholic, and I go to a Protestant church. Even though I don't plan on converting, I think it is worth while for me to learn more. I didn't want to feel like I knew nothing about the Catholic faith.  It was a bonus that the people in the class are so nice, and I love how they have stories of how they became closer to God. I LOVE hearing those testimonies.

On another note, I have also been reading more which is why I haven't been updating my blog each day. I finished reading The Help, and now I'm starting Unbroken. I can't wait to read this book. Several people have told me that it is a must read. It's kind of amazing that I am finding time to read. I don't know if I'm putting off a few things that I need to be doing for the wedding.

Speaking of the wedding, I am planning on getting a lot done Saturday during the day. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that I am trying on my dress on Friday with all of the alterations finished! I am so excited. My mom is coming with me to take a picture and hang out with me. I CAN'T wait!

What are you up to this week?

Almost Done!

Bill and I officially know what are invitations are going to look like. Bill's sister called me and offered to help us look for invites. We ended up going to Michaels and getting them for $14.99. AMAZING! (They were 40% off.) The color of the invites match the color of my bridesmaid dresses-they're beautiful.

I'm super excited that we have that part over with. Now, we just need to figure out the wording and print them out. I need to get on that pronto! :) We are almost done with the important parts of the wedding planning.

After we found our invitations, we went to Target to get a few things for dinner. I made tuna casserole for our meal. Bill loved it. I was pretty happy with it too. It felt good to finally bake dinner for him. I haven't really been that comfortable cooking, but I recently decided that I want to start trying. I think I'm going to have fun with it. One of my friend's has a blog, Culinary Ramblings, where she writes about all the delicious things that she cooks for her and her husband. I will totally be referencing that more and more as we get closer to the wedding.

Is there anything you like cooking for your significant other?

In the spirit.

Today has been of those lazy Saturdays that I absolutely adore. I got to spend some time with my mom in the morning. I love talking to her and having time to catch up with her about how are weeks went.

I also went to Macy's to look for that pea coat that I've been wanting. I'm happy to say that I found a really pretty wool pea coat.  I love it! The sleeves are long and it won't show my hair on my coat. It's perfect. You'll have to forgive my excitement over my coat. I just feel like I'm finally going to look like an adult this year. :)

Also, I was pleasantly surprised when I was walking through Macy's. There are Christmas decorations up everywhere in the store. I was in heaven with all the gold, red, and green decorations throughout the different departments. It was definitely enough to get me in the mood for Christmas!
And it's not even Halloween yet...

Embracing Fall

I feel like I could write a post like this every year, because each year, I have a hard time accepting that summer is over. I honestly think I could live in a warm climate all year long and love it. ha Instead, I live in Illinois where it can really freakin' cold in the winter.

This week, I did a few things to get in the mood for colder weather. I started wearing all my favorite sweaters again. I also looked at pea cotes. Grey and tan colored pea coats. Bill always thinks I look the best in tan colored clothes. It's a good thing I like that color too.  It would be nice to have a pea coat that doesn't show my hair all over it, like the black one I have. A grey one would also work. Anyways, wearing cute warm clothes makes me warm up to fall that much more.

Another thing that's helping me adjust? I got a gym membership this past Saturday. I forgot how much I love walking into a gym where there's people being active when everything outside is dying. I've worked out twice since, and I'm hoping to go to the gym four or five times a week. I need to be lifting weights with the strapless wedding dress I'm going to wear for our wedding! haha Anyways, it will be awesome to not give up running during the winter.

Do you dread cold weather too? Or do you welcome it with arms open?

Weekend Wish List

One of my favorite things to do is write out lists for everything. I write lists for what books I want to read, what food I want to cook, things I want to buy, or what I need to clean that day.

Pretty much anything goes when it comes to lists.

I have a few things that I am hoping to this weekend.

One. Hang out with my sweety.

Two. Finish The Help and start reading Unbroken. Or the last book in the Twilight series. I can't decide.

Three. Find time to write during the day.

Four. Go for a long morning run.

Five. Catch up on my DVR.

There might not be many things on my list, but I love realizing that I do all of the things that I wanted to do during the weekend. It might have to do with my obsession with not wasting time. It's not really an obsession, but lets just say, I treasure my free time after I started working full time. I find time to do the things I want to even if it's slightly more difficult.

What do you love to do with your free time?

Day Dreaming about Running & Married Life

I ran a wonderful 3 miles after work yesterday with my dog. There was a short amount of time before it rained. I was really glad I got to take advantage of the good weather. I feel like all the stress of the day rolls off my back when I run or do any form of exercise.

Also, I love the feeling of accomplishment when I run a little bit faster or go an extra mile. I had been really wanting to get back to my routine after my first half marathon. I had stopped working out for two weeks, and I felt awful about it. I have a new goal now to work out regularly each week so I don't go stir crazy.

Last winter, I didn't have a regular membership at a gym, and I totally regret not having one. I didn't run for five months. I CAN'T imagine doing that this year. There's no way I would even think of it. ha This winter will be so much different in a lot of ways. Last night, Bill and I were talking about how things our going to change once were married.

I love thinking about all the different things that will happen. I know it's going to be great not having to leave at night. Sometimes, it's annoying having to leave early so I can get up at a decent time in the morning for work. Plus, I'm get more time with my sweetypea.

Another thing we discussed? Cooking and cleaning... We decided that whoever cooks doesn't have to clean up afterwards. I think I'm going to do a lot of cleaning up. At least for a while. Bill usually takes over for me when I try to cook. I have quite a few things to learn still, but at least, I'm willing. :)

I personally can't wait to come home to Bill everyday. He leaves for work earlier in the day, but in the evenings, we'll have time together. Bill mentioned how we're going to busy. For the most part, I agree with that, but I'm hoping will have lots more time together, which I know we will. ahh I can't wait!

I could daydream all day, but that really isn't productive, is it?. Back to the real world.

On my list.

Recently, I've started reading more books than I have in a while. I'm halfway through reading The Help, and I have a few more on my list...

Here's what it looks like:

Unbroken
One Day
Breaking Dawn (Last book in the Twilight series)
Happy Accidents - Jane Lynch Memoir

I love when I get into reading a good book. I can't wait to finish The Help and find all the little details that were left out of the movie!

I found my favorite.

I really loved everything I did on Sunday. It wasn't perfect, but I feel like I accomplished several things. I have someone to do the invitations. I registered at Target with Bill's mom helping me. We had my mom take more engagement pictures. Plus, I think we found a couple of pictures that we really like. Here is my favorite.

I think our expressions match, and I love how warm this picture looks.

We also like this one.

This one is cool too, but I'm in love with the first one. We're sending out our invitations this week or next so we need to decide. ha

What did you do this weekend?

Our First Engagement Shoot

As I promised, here are a few pictures that Bill's brother, Tom, took of us last weekend. These are my favorites. I didn't crop any of them, since I'm planning on printing a few. I learned that cropping pictures from a point and shoot camera don't mix. Everything turns out pixelated and blurry. Lesson learned.

Kissing by his tree at his parents house.
I remember the first time he held my hand. It was on the fourth date. I'm pretty sure. ;)
And then we have this picture.... ;) We thought it would be fun to take a picture with one of our chickens. I named her lil nads. Ha. I love all these pictures. Thank you, Tom!

Today, we are headed to Bill's neice, Felicity's fourth birthday party. Then after that, we have our second engagement shoot, which will also be our last. My mom is taking pictures in the spot where we got engaged. I think it's going to be beautiful with all the leaves changing. Ah. So exciting.

Keep Calm

I woke up happy this morning knowing that the weekend is here. Ahh. What a relief. This week, Bill and I started premarital counseling as a part of planning for our life together. I was so nervous. I tend view things as a test, which didn't make the first meeting very fun. I think I will feel better the next time we meet. Our pastor said he wanted to help us have the best start to our marriage. I also like the layout of the meetings. Not much was going this week, besides work and hanging out with the people I love.
Tomorrow, I'm looking forward to picking out photos to print from our engagement photo session. We had Bill's brother take a few photos that turned out really great. My mom is also taking some pictures on Sunday afternoon at the same spot where we got engaged. I'm so excited for that! The leaves are changing, and everything looks extra beautiful with the orange, red, and yellow colored leaves decorating the trees. Also, we have also been having several days of Indian summer that have been wonderful. I'm trying to keep every last bit of warm summer weather with me. Even though I know it's going to slip away eventually.
How are you enjoying your weekend?

A little bit of this and that.

I haven't written in a few days, and of course, I have a few things running through my head.

How is it possible that I can find Rachel from Glee annoying but one of my favorite characters? She is one of the most self centered characters, but she has redeeming qualities that I CANNOT pin point. Does anyone else feel the same way?

It's almost the weekend, and I can't wait to have the chance to have several hours to look at hundreds of pictures of bouquets, cakes, accessories for the big day. I don't mean to write a lot about my wedding plans. I know that might be annoying for people who aren't into weddings. I happen to not be that big of a wedding person, but I realize I only get one chance to plan my own wedding, and I want to enjoy it. It's supposed to be fun and not overwhelming. I would love to pick out a few things this weekend-even if I only have pictures. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that Bill and I have been talking about wedding gifts? Bill told me yesterday that he already knows what he wants to give me. It was really sweet. I need to start thinking about his gift. :)

 via
I love the idea of having a bright colored flower with white flowers. I particularly love the yellow and white combination. My bridesmaid's dresses are pink, but I think this could possibly work.

Besides looking at flowers and wedding gifts, I've been reading The Help and absolutely loving it! There is an abundance of detail left out of the movie like usual. I'm glad I saw the movie first so I wasn't disappointed.

What's been on your mind lately?

Lazy Saturday

I love being able to sleep in a little bit on Saturdays. It's something I look forward to each week. That might be kind of sad. ha Today, I continued that little ritual by sleeping in till 7:30am and browsing all of your blogs after I woke up. I only had two real things on my agenda today, which was my alterations appointment for my wedding dress and picking up my wedding band.

My alterations appointment went pretty well. The seamstress pinned the bustle in my dress to show me how it was going to look after she altered it. It look amazing. I loved it. There were a few other things that needed to be done to my dress as well. I knew it was going to be expensive, because I was also having it hemmed so it wouldn't touch the sand on our wedding day. ;) She gave me the lower price for the hemming, which turned out to be $75. All the alterations came to a total of $200. I know that isn't too bad, but I got my dress on sale for a little over $200. Almost the same price! Although, I realize I paid a small amount for a nice wedding dress. After that was finished, I went to pick up my wedding band, and of course, I had to try it on with my engagement ring. I can't wait to wear it all the time.

It's been a relaxing day. One that I really needed after feeling exhausted during the week. Tonight me and Bill are going out. I'm not sure where exactly, but I'm excited to have a reason to dress up a little and spend time with my sweety.

What are you looking forward to this weekend?
