Enjoying Each Other

This past weekend, I've been reminding myself to calm down and not get overwhelmed with everything going on right now. I got pretty stressed after a certain conversation this weekend, and I realized wedding planning won't be that easy. I'm just glad things are easy between me and Bill. We can talk through pretty much anything. Anyways, Bill and I sat down on Sunday and spent several hours planning two different trips that we're taking, including our honeymoon. Neither us have much experience booking flights. Man, it was making us nervous. I think we reread the times for our flights several times before pressing the 'continue booking flight' button. It felt so great accomplishing some of the important details of two exciting trips. I literally felt a weight off my chest afterwords.

One of these trips involves getting out of the United States for a while! We are going to Toronto, Canada and New York in a couple of weeks. Bill was a little surprised that I've already been to Toronto before, but we both can't wait to explore the city. After a couple of days, we are going to New York to visit a good friend of mine. I am really looking forward to seeing her and her husband at their home. A week before we leave for Canada, I'm running my first half marathon. I cannot wait to run my race and have Bill be there. I am reminding myself that I am running this race for me. It helps relieve any unwanted pressure. Overall, I don't think I've ever been this busy in my life. My nerves are definitely up, but I'm so pumped that I'm experiencing all these new things.

Yesterday, I had dinner with my brother and dad. It was his last night before he left for London. He has around an eight to nine hour flight today, and I just said goodbye to him. I also put up a couple of new pictures of him up at work. It's going to be weird having him so far away. Although, he is pumped to the freaking max, and I couldn't be more happy for him. That doesn't mean I won't miss him like crazy though, because I definitely will.

Ahh... Life and its changes....

One of the pictures, I put up at work. I'm finally decorating my workspace.

Have a Summery Weekend.

Happy Friday, friends! What are your plans for the weekend? I plan on enjoying every last bit of summer that we have left. I need to go on a long run on either Saturday or Sunday. Right now, I'm leaning towards Sunday. On Saturday, my brother is coming home before he leaves for London. It's a bitter sweet time. I am very excited that he gets this opportunity to visit Europe, and on the other hand, I am definitely going to miss him the 10 weeks that he is there. I am going to print a few pictures off for him to keep while he is away. He loves getting pictures of us.

I will also be catching up with my DVR and watching Sex & the City. I am addicted to that show. Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I'll be back next week posting about more wedding news! We almost know our wedding date!

As of Right Now

I have been wanting to post for a few days now. There has been so many things going through my mind. Billy and I are narrowing down our ideas for a wedding. We are thinking of having a destination wedding in Florida. Ahh! We are both so excited and thrilled to plan the details of our special day. Different color themes have been running through my mind, and I cannot wait to start sharing more of that with you.

I haven't started to feel overwhelmed with all the planning, which is good. Also, I haven't been getting much sleep either. The anticipation of it all is pretty exciting. I need sometime to sit down and make a few calls. I'm hoping tonight I will find that time to check things off my mile long list and speak to a few different people about some important details. Maybe, I can accomplish that on my lunch break. Other than wedding planning, I am still training for my half marathon that is in 2 weeks!

Training is going well. I can't believe that I actually feel like I can run this whole race, but I am feeling very good about it. Bill and my mom are going to be there to watch me. I can't wait for race day.

What's even more exciting than that? I get my engagement ring back next Tuesday! I got it resized after I said how well it fit for a couple of days. It was a little too small. :) Happy Wednesday, friends!

How It Happened

Bill and I had been looking at rings for a few weeks before we got engaged. It was kind of funny, because the first day we had started to look we left a pamphlet out that his mom and sister ended up seeing it. His mom walked in and said, "What is this!!?" I love getting big reactions. ha

After that day, we went to a couple different jewelers during the course of three weeks. It wasn't until last Friday that I knew I was going to get to pick out my ring. Bill told me he wanted to go pick a ring out the next day, Saturday. I couldn't have been more excited!! On Saturday, we went to three different jewelers. We basically went to those three stores 2 to 3 times, because I couldn't make up my mind for the life of me. I was driving myself nuts.

I tried on EVERY type of ring. All different styles. I had to know what I thought of each and what looked good. I've never looked at engagement rings before me and Bill started looking so I wasn't sure what style I liked most. I went from liking a ring with all kinds of detail on the side and multiple stones to a solitaire ring with a thicker band. Also, I thought that I liked a princess cut instead of a round diamond, but then I decided that I liked round diamonds more. After we searched for a couple of hours, I ended up choosing the ring that I had ultimately thought would be the best. Bill had asked me to try on m ring at the store. It was the last ring that I tried on that day. I was stoked when we left the store. I absolutely LOVE the main three stones with the yellow gold band.

On the way home, Bill didn't let me look at the ring after that. He took a left turn that I didn't expect into a forest preserve that we had both been to on picnic last year. We were the only ones there, when Bill gave the sweetest speech that I have ever heard. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was amazing, and I was so happy! We drove home so eager to tell my mom. When we got to my house, my mom got off the phone right away and came inside to talk to us. It was super sweet. We were both so giddy about just getting engaged. After talking to my mom for a while we went to Bill's parent's house to tell them. We told his brother when we got there, and later that night, we told his sisters, brother in laws, and his mom and dad. They were all really excited and happy for us.

When Bill dropped me off at home, I remember being pretty slaphappy, and saying, "Babe, we're fiances!" I love saying that, and I love being fiances. hehe

The weekend continued to be amazing. I kept on staring at my ring.  I cannot wait to start planning our wedding!

Awesome News!!!

What's that?!!? ;)

Friends, I have BIG news!!

Billy proposed to me on Saturday (August 13th, 2011). We went to a forest preserve in the early afternoon, and he proposed!! Bill did such a good job! He told me how important I was to him and how he couldn't imagine life without me and other things. Then he got down on one knew and asked me to marry him! :-) Of course, I said, YES!!

I'm so happy right now. I will be writing a post with the details of that day, but for right now, I wanted to share the exciting news! (The table above is where we had a picnic last year.)

One last picture of my ring!! I love everything about this ring, especially that it is yellow gold with 3 stones.

I am beyond excited and happy that I found the love of my life!! I'm so happy that Bill and I are getting married! Now all the wedding planning will start. :)

Have a Lovely Weekend.

Last night, I had dinner with one of my closest friends. It was awesome talking and catching up for a few hours. I love that we can share whatever with each other and not worry about what the other will think. Refreshing. We sat outside for a couple of hours. I felt so good that we were able to do that yesterday. After dinner, we went to Home Goods where I found the basket pictured below. This basket is perfect for keeping mail and other small things on my desk! :)

The next two books I plan on reading. Bossy Pants by Tina Fey and One Day by David Nicholls.

Of course, there are a few pictures of me and Bill on my desk. Muah!

One last picture of my new favorite basket. I love the color of the stripes.

This weekend is going to be pretty low key here. I am planning to stay close to home and hanging out with my love-ah. I am also planning on bringing my puppy, Kittle, to Bill's house. I want her to see some of the animals. I think she would love it. Plus, it would be so cute to see her run around.

I leave you with a song that I hear a lot when I am out. She Is Love. So sweet!

Choices...

I have always looked up to my mom even when I don't agree with her. It's a natural thing for me. I always think she has the best ideas, even when I don't admit it. Sometimes, I quote my mom when I'm not even thinking it. Bill likes to tell me, "Mother knows best," when I say oh yeah, my mom said such and such. It has to be right. ha

Now before you all start to think I'm much younger than my twenty-four years would suggest, let me explain why I appreciate her so much.

Yesterday, I was walking with my mom, and she told me how she's choosing to make a few changes to her life to make it better.

Choices like... Exercising to make herself feel good. Going to bed at 10pm. Reading more because it's something she enjoys. Losing the last few pounds she wants to loose.

All these things make me love her more. It impresses me that she IS taking actual steps to make her life even better. A lot of the time, I think I don't bother to think about how I can improve my life, because I get caught up with everything that's going on. So, today, I thought about what my list of improvements would like.

I think it would include: Run 4 times a week. Regularly floss since it apparently prevents cavities. Read more books.  Get more sleep. Dream more and write more. Blog Monday through Friday since I love it. Be more organized at home.

Story short, I have many things I would want to improve in my life, but I think I have to agree that just a few improvements would help each day be more enjoyable. Wouldn't you agree?

August and everything that it brings.

August has it's way of creeping up on me when I least expect it. I have this love/hate relationship with this month. I love that Target has all those fun back to school pens, pencils, crayons, notebooks, folders, etc. Just seeing all those things is fun for me. The things I hate? I hate that summer is coming to an end and that winter is just a matter of months away. It was really starting to make me sad thinking about that, but yesterday my negative thoughts were turned around by a great dinner with my dad, watching Julie & Julia, a nice walk with my mom and dog, and the fact that it was beautiful outside.

It made me think about all the things I want to be doing on a awesome day like yesterday. After all, that is what the weekend is for, plenty of free time. I can't wait to sleep in to 9am or later, bake/cook what I want to, possibly going to see The Help, visiting our chickens, going for a long run, reading Water for Elephants, and doing whatever. :) What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Also, I have a question for my readers. I am curious.

What would you like to see more of on my blog?

Refusing to Doubt Myself

I haven't done as much training as I have wanted for the half marathon. The month of July was almost painful with how hot it was, and I didn't always feel like running, but yesterday, I ran a long run, 8.5 miles. I had a small window of opportunity where it wasn't raining, and I grabbed it. I started out fast, because I was so excited to run. I know that is going to happen during the race if that happens during training. I started settling into my normal pace about a mile into it. It felt good to be out there and everything. I even ran with my running belt to get a feel for it. I love those things.

On the way back home, it was starting to get dark, and I was panicking if I heard a noise I couldn't pin point. I know I was running faster on the way home, since I was getting scared about the sun going down. I need to get reflectors. My thumb was also throbbing due to slamming it in my car door on Friday. There were a few things I learned from this run.

- I needed to be pushing myself harder a while ago.

- I learned 8.5 miles doesn't seem that long. Happy about this one.

- Running belts aren't annoying if worn properly.

- Swollen fingers kill when they start to throb and you're running.

- I want to run several more miles next time.

- I can't believe I'm actually doing this.

Birthdays, Birthdays, Birthdays... ;)

I'm surprised at how fast time is going by right now... I love summer, and I look forward to it all year long. Although, I am pretty excited for fall. I can't wait to do all the fun things that come with that season. But for now, I am soaking up summer and trying to do the last summery things that I can. This weekend, I went to a couple of birthday parties for Bill's family members. I love birthdays and celebrating them. On Saturday, we celebrated one of Bill's youngest niece's birthday. They had a carnival theme with pony rides at her birthday. It was really sweet.

The Birthday Girl!
First pony ride. :)
She looks so cute on the pony!
So excited to open presents.
They painted the horses hooves for the special day.

Later in the day, Bill and his siblings and their significant others made a movie. The script was written an hour prior. :) (Bill loves making movies and directing them.) I'm not sure that I will be posting it here since I had a speaking part in it, and I don't know that I want to embarrass myself that much. haha

Everyone made pies for their Grandma's birthday.
Cherry pie. This one looks hard to make. I need to start learning how to bake pies. I attempted it, and it didn't work... I brought a pecan pie that isn't pictured here. :)
 Chocolate Mousse.
 Chocolate.
 Blueberry.

Billy right before he welcomed everybody. I like his haircut!
 Me with my cutie.

I helped cut pies with Bill's sisters. :) I had a really good time with everyone. My mom came as well. Now, it's Monday, and another week has already begun. I'm hoping to get so much done. What are you looking forward to this week?

Lists

Lists. Every Sunday, I run through a mental list in my head of what I'm going to do the next week. Sometimes, I write down my huge list with around thirty things to do.

I write down the plans I might have or where I'll go and what errands I might take care of on certain days.

Some of the most minuscule things make the list such as packing a lunch or bringing a certain book for my break or washing a dark load of laundry on Monday night. I also love writing things down like: pay this bill, take my puppy for a run or walk, clean my desk off, wash my bedding, and so on.

There's a certain amount of comfort I get from knowing that I'm going to remember everything I need to for the week. Plus, I love checking things off my list! It's one of the most SATISFYING things for me to get that much closer to having things taken care of.

It's Sunday morning, but I have a small list already. Here's what it includes: run 4 times this week, organize my room, finish Water for Elephants, and pack a lunch.

Do you make lists?

A very sleepy puppy who let me take her picture! She looks like she's posing.

First Songs

When I was fifteen or sixteen, I listened to Michelle Branch ALL the time. I LOVED her songs! I was just starting to drive, and it was my favorite thing to sing to her songs in my car, rather my parent's Suburban. I feel like those were the songs that introduce me to my teen years. Years filled with crushes and fun times.

My favorite songs from those days were Everywhere...

And Breathe...

I felt like even then, I craved romance and could completely relate to these songs even though I had never had boyfriend...

My taste in music really hasn't changed that much at all. I still adore Michelle Branch songs, but I listen to Taylor Swift music almost everyday.

My favorite songs from here are You Belong With Me...

And Love Story....

Who am I kidding? I love all of her songs.

Anyways, when I was younger, I daydreamed that I would find that perfect guy, and I would be able to completely relate to my favorite Michelle Branch songs. I wanted a guy who adored me and loved me for me. I'm so happy that I found  that in Bill. He was the guy I was dreaming about all that time...
He's everything that I want.

Our Day on the Lake

A couple of weekends ago, Bill and I went to his aunt and uncle's cabin in Wisconsin. We met up with his parents who were already there. There were several winding and hilly roads that led to the cabin. It was nothing like Illinois. I was so excited to go there!

This was the life... I loved relaxing on the lake without anything to worry about for the day.

I thought he was looking when I took this picture. ;)

I hope Bill doesn't mind that I put these pictures up. I just think he looks cute with the towel on his head. Of course, he didn't put it on for that reason. ha It was really hot outside!

The start of our fun day on the lake...

The water felt so good! I grew up going to lakes and camping, but I have always been scared to get in the water. This time was no exception, but I was definitely happy after I got in and started swimming.

Everything is so much more relaxing in the water with a life jacket!

Bill waited on us while we enjoyed the raft. There was a lot of storytelling going on that day. :)

At the end of the day, we went tubing!! Bill and his niece were the first ones to try it. She was so scared. Poor thing. I went tubing with him after this and had so much fun even though it was rather bumpy! This weekend made me wish that summer was two to three months longer... I couldn't get enough of the warm weather and cool water-I loved it!!
